”We” being the President whose foreign policy is dumber than dirt [lolololol] and favors our adversaries over our partners and allies.
Did you listen to or read Rubio’s ( Trumps foreign policy spokesman) Athens speech? I suggest you do so. Trumps foreign policy ( Greenland, Europe, China) is visionary and long term excellent. You are not only blinded by Trump rage, but it has fucked up your mind. ( Are you still on that Trump is an isolationist nonsense?)
If I have time later I’ll post about Athens, meanwhile, do yourself a favor and become informed.

Replacing Zelenskyy would not stop Ukraine from attacking Russian oil infrastructure and would not motivate Ukrainians to give up their land.
Trump is playing toddler tiddlywinks with Ukrainian lives. (What this thread is about , not Trump’s foreign policy
Russia is funding Iran, we are now funding Russia. This is that visionary brilliance CO was talking about.
Trump has been trying to stop the war from day one. While Ukraine is doing an admirable job of prolonging the war, I don’t think the long term result is in doubt. Putin has been systematically destroying Ukraine’s ability to produce and distribute energy. This coming winter is going to be rough. Very rough. But Zelenskyy has no worries. Time for him to go. Why should we care how much of eastern Ukraine ends up as part of Russia? We have much more important long term issues.
@co-hoosier dumbest. By that theory we should have always been buying oil from Iran, they were going to sell it to China anyway.
We passed a law named for Lindsey Graham that 1) prohibited us from buying energy from Russia. Can a prez just reverse a law he signed? 2) it sanctioned other nations if they buy energy. 2) we do not know Russia has that diesel, they have internal shortages already. 3) if we do get every drop, it is less than 2 days of diesel. That won't significantly change price, it is symbolic to voters

Good observation Marv. It's been the right leading the charge the past 20+ years crying about climate change, shutting down refineries, and making it much more difficult to get fossil fuels to market. Not the leftists in Europe and U.S.
The Sec Treas has authority to waive.
Do you really think not making this deal is the smart play?
@co-hoosier IF IF IF it were enough to significantly change the diesel situation, we could talk. It doesn't. It is a symbolic gesture to get people to vote for him. It helps Putin, it helps Iran. You used to hate symbolic gestures. Google it, it is not expected to have a significant impact on pricing. It only creates a talking point on the campaign trail
Look it up, what amount do your sources say this will lower diesel?
If other countries needed to lower oil prices and bought it from Iran, we would not accept it.
. Nor from Russia, the EU banned diesel from Russia in 23. They have high prices too.
