There's new reporting that Pope Leo likely won't come to the United States as long as Trump is president. Can you blame him? Sadly, though, that would be a win for Trump, as the pope would likely draw crowds that would rival or exceed those of JPII, and far exceed anything Trump has ever seen. Trump would be seething with envy.
Finally, back to the current story. Think about this for a second. The Vatican's Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, a high-ranking Cardinal, was summoned to the Pentagon (To. The. PENTAGON.) for a lecture that could also be described as a warning. I guess the Pentagon official (Elbridge Colby) who dressed him down stopped just short of "The Pope? How many divisions does he have?"
