For how many years have I been telling you people MAGA is, at its heart, a nativist movement?

It's populist, and there appears to be a significant faction of MAGA is demonstrating that they're really against all immigration. The administration is playing to that faction by saying they're going to review all 55 million (approximately) people holding various visas and will deport some based on some undefined criteria. I see on Facebook and other social media MAGAs talking about deporting/expelling "millions" of them. I guess they think they're just up to no good such as voting (not in federal elections), taking American jobs, they're too "woke," etc., etc..

No, they just realize they're a net negative to them.

Replace "realize" with "think" and you'd be accurate. How is legal immigration IAW US laws, policy and regulations a net negative?

@aloha-hoosier we need closed borders.  we need people to go through the proper channels.  and we need immigrants.  hopefully work is being done to streamline the process for those who have been here for sometime without criminal history etc.

Can they finish my landscaping and roof projects first?

Seriously I wonder what percent of those jobs are legals vs illegals?  Curious if this type of work will become more expensive.  I guess we'll find out.  I suppose I could get a roofing quote now and see if it changes much in about 6-9 months with the same contractor.

Requires a valid ID:

  • Driving✅
  • Buying alcohol ✅
  • Buying tobacco✅
  • Getting a library card✅
  • Boarding a plane✅
  • Donating blood✅
  • Determining the direction & future of our country & children❌

Dems think people are too stupid or lazy to get ID’s….or they want the votes.

I'm having my house prepped for selling. Today is the second day of painting and the workers are Spanish speaking, though one speaks fluent English (the Jefe), one seems to understand English pretty well and can speak a little, and the other doesn't seem to understand or speak English at all. The company is definitely owned by US citizens. I've not asked about the status of the others. I'm assuming they're here legally. I'm not asking to see their papers, I need this job completed. 😉

I've taken the opportunity to practice my long dormant Spanish speaking and listening skills.

I've long been an advocate for ID requirements for voting and there has been quite a bit of improvement in that area in the past 20 years. Most states require ID to vote now. Some are more strict than others. I think they all should be on the stricter side.

Current status: State Voter ID Rules • VoteRiders

So far so good. The neighbors had their entire roof replaced in a day by a crew of what appeared to be Hispanics. I've done roofing during one of my college summer jobs and it's one of the hardest jobs there are, and much harder in the summer!

I am all for voter ID requirements and have never lived anywhere without strong voter ID laws.

MAGA types want people off the voter rolls who won't vote their preferred way, such as inner city poor, especially non-whites.  Dems want them on the voter rolls, obviously.

Both sides go too far in trying to get their preferred outcome.

Dems should focus not on eliminating voter ID but on establishing voter ID policies that can be followed by someone without a driver's license, passport, permanent home address, etc.

There is a constitutional right for citizens to vote, so being exclusionary is a problem.  There isn't such a  right for things like getting on a plane or buying a bottle of wine.

Why do you think importing cheap low skilled labor is beneficial overall for working class Americans?

@oneeyedundertaker who exactly FORCES their oppressive  culture upon us? Why does being proud of their previous country ( flying flags) mean they hate the US?

@mcm666 Do you think it’s a coincidence that Republicans are against making it easier for college students, minorities, etc to make it more convenient to vote? I hear Trump wants to eliminate  mail in voting. Wonder what the military will think of that?
