Crazy stuff released by the commissioner. Avg tv 120,000 viewers per game. Man that is peanuts. Going to move schedule to mirror Europe. @jdb winter games in minny. Winter games in Chicago. Canada. NY. Wild wild stuff. I don’t see how the league survives. No one is sitting outside in Jan to watch that

I hope they're able to figure it out. It seems like going to games under their current model is popular in a lot of cities. You're right though; no one is going to sit in the stands in a fair number of cities where they currently have franchises.
I'm actually going to see the Columbus Crew tomorrow night. I love going to one-to-two games of theirs a year and they always seem to have a good crowd.
@ohio-guy and they're a solid team. group gm etc. great coach. that's where i went through combines etc. i remember the early years playing in ohio stadium with tarps. worst atmosphere ever
sounds like indy is still shooting for a team. pacers. not 11
Austin FC is a first rate organization on how they run that team and interact with the fans. I finally got off the waitlist and got season tix in the supporter section. Still you have to stand all game in those sections and will get regular showers from all the water being thrown. What a zoo. I consider myself on the waiting list still to get reserved seats. Still, the sale rep is always contacting me with gifts like Yeti coffee cups and on top of getting me moved.
MLS needs to do more than be affiliated with Apple TV. I know they have a some ESPN and Fox games from time to time. I don't watch games outside of Austin games and I get the Apple TV MLS subscription as part of the ticket package. I expect that there would be more viewership if at least the local teams could cut deals with local TV stations to have the games on like before moving to Apple.
@sig interesting! the organization in stl is top, top notch. just premium everything. gorgeous stadium. concessions. community impact/connections. yet the product on the field is dog shit. so re your season tix people signed up on three year deals and the team is so bad, and the weather so bad, they are bitching bc they can't get face value on resales. you can get cheaper on seatgeek. now the people standing like you in the supporters section are still happy. they got a good deal on season tix and are totally fine. it's the people who paid too much, mich ultra club, etc., who are getting fckd.
so maybe give it some thought bc if you don't mind standing your supporter's section might be the way to go to hedge lean/losing times
@sig actually i take htis back. i would get CHEAP season tickets where you can sit. these soccer only stadiums don't have a bad seat. what i would not do is get roped into the expensive season tix seats
@sig a bunch of posts were lost on the reboot. here's another problem with this stupid league. inter miami just signed de paul lmao. players like that will never come to these flyover cities. muller is looking at la. in stl we're debating between another rando scandinavian or some goofball from akron or wvu or some shit
You already have a soccer thread!Crazy stuff released by the commissioner. Avg tv 120,000 viewers per game. Man that is peanuts. Going to move schedule to mirror Europe. @jdb winter games in minny. @bradstevens i think it moved. and this stuff sort of applies to indiana as indy is allegedly in the running for a franchise
WNBA has an average viewership 9 times higher.@bradstevens i think it moved. and this stuff sort of applies to indiana as indy is allegedly in the running for a franchise
I'm sorry, dude, by the US just doesn't care about soccer. EPL avg. is about 500K by the way.
@bradstevens i don't think you'd see the numbers in youth soccer if that were true. i think it's that mls is a bad product. the quality is so low. that said mls teams' are valued at numbers that are far greater than the wnba. some teams have valuations over a billion dollars. i suspect the world cup will see huge numbers of AMERICANS next summer.
but i could certainly be wrong
I don't get the valuations. @bradstevens for sure. but it's not free. you have to pay a subscription to watch on apple. i'm not sure what impact that has

some heavy, heavy privately funded investments coming into the league with new stadiums. gambling on it getting better
