Now, privatize TSA security and prevent this from happening again. Most of the current officers would be hired by whatever company/companies won/win the contract(s). Some at more pay, some maybe at less, but they'd be first offered jobs.
I have an even better idea. Get rid of TSA entirely and allow the airline companies decide what they want to do with security.
Including Emirates, Etihad Airways, Turkish Air, Qatar Airways, Saudia, and Oman Air???
Gotta be the airports, not the airlines, that take it over. Leave the federal framework of regs in place and just use the money to pay the companies who win the contracts.
Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan. POTFB

Or get rid of all of the regulations and let the market figure it out. If you're too scared to fly, don't. If enough people decide they are too afraid to fly, airlines will fix the issue and they'll do a better job than TSA.

Baby steps. The privatization will likely never happen. Ain't no way they're gonna turn it into a free market experiment.

It's a metal detector, fake wand, and some dudes who look like Shooter rubbing people down. Delta could hire Wal-Mart door greeters and produce similar results. Please, give me the free market alternative.
I appreciate your faith in the free market, but I would be concerned that free market lawyers would go to town on lawsuits every time anything happened on an airline. Both the airports and the airlines would be out of business in a heartbeat.

I enjoy talking to Fred and John every time I go in and take/take back a cart.

You take back your cart??? WTF??? WalMart ain't Aldi's. Those WalMart cart jockeys need jobs too. Same reason I don't use self-checkout.

Brother, unless I've bought a 40 pack of water, I carry my groceries to the car.

Uh, what about all us schlubs that work in high-rise office buildings in major cities?

That could be a video of me about 3 hours coming into the house.
If I can't do it in 1 trip, it's very upsetting.
