tang criticized his players in a post game presser here:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Eq8-f7whHFA

k- state decided fire him for clause citing specific behaviors that violated his contract

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/47943350/sources-jerome-tang-kansas-state-1-11-big-12

tang says he’ll fight it and I love his attorneys already

who wins? What are your thoughts on the legal dispute? I think K state is going to settle for a bunch of money and get a bad look. It clearly tried to play the for cause because of performance vs his actual behavior imo, but others may disagree.

This wasn't a firing for cause.  He's gonna get his bag.

He was fired for going 1-11 in conference.

K State is just trying to find a way to not have to pay him.  They're going to lose.

That was my (and many others') thought as well. How does this not reflect poorly on K-State and hurt their chances of recruiting another coach? You could reasonably argue Tang should have done things differently, but treating it "for cause" after Sherrone Moore, Mel Tucker, etc. is stupid. I hope Tang takes them to the cleaners to enforce the contract and pay for emotional damages.

K-State is gonna get dragged in both the court of public opinion and court of law.

A good friend will bail you out of jail, but your best friend will be sitting next to you in the cell saying "that was f***ing awesome"

It's a pretext but I'm all for it. These huge buyouts that don't allow for poor performance are out of hand. Maybe this will start some kind of change.

Two parties signed an agreement.  No one was coerced into signing it.  So both parties should have to abide by it.

I don't disagree with that concern at all. Lack of performance-driven compensation is wild to me. To be clear, it's a societal problem of sorts, not just one unique to sports. But sports contracts seem like golden parachutes for CEOs who drive their companies into the shitter.

Perhaps we should open the can of worms and make student athletes employees after all? Allow for pay-for-play contracts that have payouts based on performance. If Tang's guys have a woeful +/- or Andy Kennedy's players can't make lay-ups, let's withhold or clawback compensation.
