I think you were the bro that goes to Mikes Dance barn in Nashville . Right? WELL
it seems that the sudden resurgence of me and the legacy piece, we might want to relive our 1988 lives and dancing was a big part. NOT THE biggest part, but a big part. Any chance we can go two step old school style? not that I want too, mind you. I’m just asking for her. I hated all of it, always. but, well, you know.
If men were any more stupid, we would have breed for the extinction of women. Proof yet again that WE are the best thing they have going for them.

I know the owners...our families go back into the mid 80s. Also my first real job after HS was as a newbie construction grunt building the place (assuming you're talking Nashville IN). As I'm not into the country music/dancing scene, you talking about line dancing?

Yep, Nashville IN fo sho.
I never picked up line dancing, although I would love to. With my attention span, I'd have to practice a month just to follow the directions of the hokey pokey. Oh look, a squirrel.

@joe_hoopsier They have line dance lessons every Monday night (for the last 20 years) from 6:30 - 9 pm if you want to give it a try. $10 cover, there's a bar if you're so inclined, free pool table, etc.
Went there once (probably on a Monday night), with our daughter, to have some pros teach her how to two-step, waltz, and (potentially) jitterbug. We got in, and it was a bunch of olders just line-dancing. Like something you would see as PE at a retirement home. We stayed about 30 mins, then bolted.
This is along the lines of what you'll see in Texas. No one really line dances (except for chicks...when they play hip hop for a couple songs after slow dances).
Brad can attest.
Solid Jack Ingram and the Beat Up Ford band cameo as well...

Two stepping is fun.
dude, not to defend the gheyness of line dancing or whatever, but you dance with a chick at a bar the odds of getting laid increase exponentially. And if you're remotely decent, near certainty.
So, in the big picture, very not gay. You're welcome.

100%.
Dallas honkytonks in the 90's were easy pickins if you had a decent two step.
If you could waltz and jitterbug, you'd be going home with 9+'s consistently.

Mike's Dance Barn ain't that place!
I'll be the judge of that. You don't understand the depths of my tastes.

I first learned to jitterbug/East Coast swing in Austin, about a year before Swingers came out. I then took a ballroom dance class with a very attractive fellow law student because she had seen me swing dancing. From there, two-stepping was a breeze. I don't have a natural rhythm, but I'm not a klutz either. If you are even an average athlete, it's not that hard to pick up at all.
I think it's the best, most natural way to break the ice with a girl in history. If they see you can dance well, they all want to be the girl being spun--I think they think it's glamorous. After that, if you have any kind of personality at all and at least average looking, you're going to at least get a number. Even if nothing comes out of that, they'll think well of you and maybe you'll see them out another night with a cute friend?
On top of all that, it is legitimately fun once you know what you are doing and it gives you an excuse to go out and find good music that you can dance to. When I met my wife, I stopped--I wish I hadn't.
