Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.

Let’s all come to the agreement that I know nothing and you all know nothing about this war. So many arm chair Eisenhower's in this thread.
I don’t see the intelligence necessary to form a firm opinion on the conflict nor do I think it should be applauded or condemned blindly.
But we should call this what it is, one of the greatest acts of political courage since Reagan said “Tear down this wall”.
Trump knew this would be unpopular, he knew it would jeopardize the midterms, and he did it anyway. The only conclusion I can draw from that is he earnestly thinks Iran presents a major threat to global stability.
I would hope we all raise our children to do what they think is right and just, instead of what is popular.
Midterms, MAGA civil war, it’s all nonsense if Trump degrades Iran to the point they’re not a threat for the foreseeable future, or even better install a regime willing to work with the U.S.
He’s attempting to plant a tree whose shade he will never sit in.
Pray for victory and our troops
You could easily replace Trump with GWB, and Iran with Iraq and one could (and plenty did) make this basically identical argument in 2003.
At least the Bush admin attempted to make their case. Trump has come up with about a half dozen random goals, depending upon the day of the week.

My theory is that the Israelis were being overly cautious since Iran has been flinging missiles at The Temple Mount and greater Jerusalem.
Al-aqsa is also closed. So are most of the religious sites in Jerusalem. Catholic Churches are still open across Israel.
What’s your theory?
Or did you just want to suggest that the nefarious Jews were up to no good again?

You write, "I don't see the intelligence necessary to form a firm opinion on the conflict nor do I think it should be applauded or condemned blindly." In the very next sentence, you enthusiastically applaud by calling it "one of the greatest acts of political courage since Reagan said '[Mr. Gorbachev], tear down this wall.' The next few sentences are unbridled Trump worship, and the comment about raising our children to act as Trump has acted (with resolve to do what is "right and just") is impossible to take seriously.
A couple of days into the war, our Secretary of State, who has considerably more credibility than Trump, said the US knew there was going to be Israeli action, which meant the US had to act "pre-emptively" in the face of expected Iranian attacks on US forces. That's not courage. That's allowing another country to force your hand.
Why do you assume Trump knew the war would be unpopular? I think it's more likely he believed that an overwhelmingly powerful and successful air attack in Iran would be enormously popular. I'm sure the people in his bubble (Stephen Miller, Jared, Hegseth, etc.) reinforced that belief.
Also, the Epstein Files and related witness testimony had been dominating the news cycle for many days. That ended with the attack on Iran. I'm sure this was another motivating factor for DJT in starting the war.

I don’t entertain the idea that Trump went to war to distract from Epstein files that don’t indict him at all. That is so stupid it can only be entertained by feverish partisans, or complete morons.
Rubio, said we launched our attack on the day we did because the Israeli’s were going in and they had intelligence on Khamenei’s location.
At that point we had 50K troops surrounding Iran. A massive military build up. We were always going to attack, it was just a matter of when.
Trump is many things, but he is not politically unaware. You don’t get elected president twice by being politically unaware. He knew a Middle East war would have muted support, but he did it anyway.
Like I said, the only reason you do that is you think it’s the right thing to do.

I'm not sure what was behind this, but it's garnering international attention. I do know that the current restrictions on religious gatherings are not supposed to apply to groups of under 50 people. This gathering involved fewer than a handful of clerics.
I also know that the Israeli government under Netanyahu has become more restrictive with respect to expression, media activities and coverage and democratic space.
Criticism of Netanyahu and his government is not, by itself, anti-semitic, which seems like a label ("nefarious Jews") you'd love to apply to me. I think the Jews are largely a hard-working, resourceful, conscientious, admirable people. I think Netanyahu is a disgraceful leader.

You think Bibi ordered the rejection of a Catholic Cardinal from entering the Holy Sepulcher on Palm Sunday?
Just say so. Stop being a coward.

Against my better judgment, I attempted to have a substantive exchange with you. Your last post along with your "nefarious Jews" comment, is further evidence that you're a bad-faith poster. I'm done.
