Good for Joe Kent.

That is a very bad sign for Trump.

How exactly? DNI is probably the only office more powerless than VP.

Gabbard staffed it with isolationists of her same ilk. VP and DNI have been pretty obviously sidelined in this decision and one DNI official quit in frustration.

He penned a resignation letter filled with the same “Israel controls of government” tropes you could hear listening to Candace Ownens.

If this stuff works on you, may I suggest you listen to Tucker. You’d absolutely eat that shit up.

@aloha-hoosier If it was really arson to cut their deployment (cruise?) short, does that rise to the level of mutiny?

Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.

Morning reading for anyone else who'd interested:

Donald Trump warns of grim NATO future over Hormuz Strait

As allies resist US call to help in Strait of Hormuz, Trump says it was a loyalty test

Long overdue:

More than 100 Iranian naval vessels destroyed, and ‘we aren’t done,’ CENTCOM leader says | Stars and Stripes

Number of US troops wounded in war against Iran rises to about 200

Some among MAGA are already claiming on social media that the one of the Presidents is lying. Why they believe everything President Trump says is a great mystery (or is it just willful ignorance and/or stupidity?):

All Living Presidents Deny Speaking to Trump About Iran

Are Iran and the US actually talking?

Iran and U.S. have been in direct contact in recent days, sources say

Mutiny requires more than one person. This could be one lone arsonist - if it was actually arson. If it was a group of disgruntled Sailors, mutiny could actually be an added charge. Don't know if that would be charged though.

@dbmhoosier will roll out his old defense of President Trump and claim he was undermined by the warmongers within the "deep state."

The job title is “Director of the National Counterterrorism Center” and he’s pissed we’ve annihilated the sponsor of the vast amount of global terrorism in the last half a decade?

Make it make sense

Trump promised an end to wars.  Joe is a 20 year veteran and his wife was incinerated in the last pointless was.  Hopefully that makes sense to you.

@aloha-hoosier what we are seeing is, "we started a war without consulting you, we didn't anticipate Iran playing their left bower, will you help bail us out?"

What makes a good military ally? I suppose you ask ten different people and you'll get ten different answers but to me it's this.

1. Our very best ally's, should stand with us morally, we should share similar values, this is as opposed to strategic partners like India.

2. Our allies should minimize the help required from us, by building up their own resources. This doesn't mean large infusions of our help wont be required of us from time to time. But the general state should not be that of a mooch.

3. When we call on our allies, they ought to answer the call, if we were a good ally we'd do the same

4. Our allies should engage in intelligence sharing and sharing of capability. Our combined power, should be stronger than the power we have alone.

The Europeans have done, number one. They've all acknowledged their own strategic interests in keeping the Strait open and removing the nuclear threat.

"Nice U.S.! We agree with what you're doing! The nuclear threat needs to be destroyed!"

They've failed to do any of the other three.

Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte recently said. "If any of you think you can defend yourselves without the U.S., keep on dreaming, we need eachother."

EACHOTHER being the operative word. It can't just be them needing us. If they won't spare a few minesweepers when we need them. What good are they?

He’s an anti-Israel right-winger similar to Tulsi and a couple of our posters here. Tulsi will pretend to toe the line for a while, but she and this guy are fellow travelers.

Let's try it this way, if unknown to us Japan invades China or Germany invades Russia, I do not want us going to war to support them just because they are our ally. Being our ally doesn't mean carte blanche.

Now if Russia attacks Germany, or China attacks Japan, sure. Just as if Iran attacked us it would be a different story.

There has to date not been a credible, "here is why we had to do this now" explanation. I am not sure I see why anyone should follow us into this any more than they should have Vietnam. Are we all in agreement Vietnam was a crappy, stupid decision?

Sure there was. Rubio spelled it out on day two. Israel was going to take out the leadership with a "decapitating" strike, and the US had to preemptively attack Iran's responding resources lest they get a chance to hit us first with their full capacity. Any other reason that's been proffered is window dressing. Netanyahu forced Trump's hand.

Exactly. Dog got wagged hard on this one.
