I don't know what it is anymore. I used to think I knew, but it seems the popular definition is continually expanding.
Common and consistent definition:
Christian nationalism is a form of religious nationalism that focuses on promoting the Christian views of its followers in order to achieve prominence or dominance in political, cultural, and social life.
Why would any Christian not want Christianity to be prominent in their political, cultural, and social life?
Also, why wouldn't any human want their views to be prominent in their political, cultural, and social life, whether they're an atheist, Buddhist, or Muslim?

This is probably the wrong spot for this but I think it gets to the heart of what I think drives MAGA (to an extent) and I don't think they are generally wrong either.
In my opinion, you can have different minded people coming together and have it work, but I think when it comes to religion, there has to be an agreement on which religion is dominant. Christianity was dominant in this country from its inception. There were different denominations that were represented but when they were writing this stuff they weren't talking about Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Confucianism, Zoroastrianism or most any other "ism" you can think of. It was Christianity. Over time we built up a secular society but that secular society was built with Christianity as its underpinning. It was dominant. Whether people want to admit it or not, it became a something that just about everyone in this country embraced in some form or fashion from our laws to our holidays. Religions do not Coexist like the bumper sticker says. They tolerate as long as everyone knows their place.
The introduction of people who are from areas that don't ascribe to the Euro-Christian background bring changes to the country that are seen as an assault. For MAGA, it is an invasion. Islam is a very political religion. It is fast growing and it is an "incident your face" type of faith. A faith invented by a conqueror for conquerors and that is how it presents itself. I think a return to a more militant Christianity or "Christian Nationalism" or "Nationalism" in general is a response to the rapid change this country has undergone in our lifetime and it is a response from a people who can turn to any social media or general media in this country and feel that their default is being flipped on its head. And yes, that default includes religious, racial, and secular points that used to hold us together. Unity that is eroded by bringing in peoples who do not hold those values or come from that background in too large of numbers too quickly to absorb and convert them to our ways.

This is just speculation on my part based on what I've been reading and some stuff I've heard. We'll have troops on the ground sometime in the next 2 weeks. I assume we've got some SOF teams with the Kurds now, and the 82nd will be their QRF. A buddy's son, a Navy Corpsman, who was in the med during the first bombing operation last summer has since rotated home, but he's been told to pack a bag and be ready, so I guess the Marines are in play too.
