@jdb it's either septum rings, colored hair and screaming or holiday photos of your family all holding guns.

We carried these MK-48 (Mark 48) torpedoes on my last ship. I had no idea they cost $4.2 million each.

$4.2M US torpedo detonates under Iranian warship in historic 'No Mercy' strike

I've long advocated telling Iran if they killed another American directly or through a proxy anywhere (mostly in Iraq back then) that we'd sink their entire Navy and there was nothing they could do to prevent it. Well, we're sinking their entire Navy and there is nothing they can do to prevent it.

Meh.

First of all I never heard of him

Second of all, even CNN reported his brief appearance was plain vanilla and non controversial.   You are overreacting.

Third of all, you (and others) are just rehashing threads of 20 years ago, except in those days the bad guys were the “religious right.” We survived.

Nothing new  and there will always be fundamentalists of right and left stripes. I don’t deny that  Their impact is mostly zip or extremely temporary

@aloha-hoosier stop talking about yourself, it alienates people.

WTF are you talking about? Too ignorant to use the quote function? I've told you not to engage with me since you're too ignorant to converse with. If I want an ignorant opinion about just about any subject, I'll ask you for it.

Sure thing, Shooter.

It's different this time.  They're white and like their country.  Well....technically the religious right was mostly white and also liked their country, but this group is scarier.  Super duper scary.

Which goes right back to what triggered @co-hoosier. If it's true as reported that commanders are casting this military operation as fulfilment of [fundamentalist] Christian Revelations prophesy of the "end times" it absolutely should not be happening. The military is not only to be apolitical, it's also not to be a religious organization of any sort. However, Pete Hegseth is a Christian Nationalist who clearly appears to believe that our government and religion (his version of Christianity) shouldn't be separate. His POV is obvious and he's encouraging it in the military. I doubt it's as successful as reported, but even if it's happening only a little, that's far too much, and it needs to be stopped.

I'm a Christian, though not a fundamentalist, and I'm a patriot who believes America is the most important and best country on earth. I think it's perfectly OK that politicians are religious and that it is one of the things that forms their opinions on policies. These things resulted in liberal/moonbat posters actually calling me a right winger or extremist in the past, but these days my same opinions aren't "extreme" enough (they've never been extreme except to the moonbats) and my fellow Republicans of the MAGA variety (where our wingnuts congregate) think I'm liberal. It's dumb.

Wow.  I had no idea this was happening until I read your post and then did five minutes of research.

"One complainant, identified as an NCO in a unit that could be deployed 'at any moment to join' operations against Iran, told MRFF in a complaint viewed by the Guardian that their commander had “urged us to tell our troops that this was ‘all part of God’s divine plan’ and he specifically referenced numerous citations out of the Book of Revelation referring to Armageddon and the imminent return of Jesus Christ."

"He said that ‘President Trump has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth’”, the NCO added."

This is seriously effed up.

US troops were told war on Iran was ‘all part of God’s divine plan’, watchdog alleges | US-Israel war on Iran | The Guardian

@co-hoosier you're a professional obfuscator of the highest order.

If a high level cabinet member of another administration was publicly promoting someone, repeatedly, that espoused such extreme views from a different side, you would most certainly take issue with it.

Instead you claim it's completely fake....and then switch to it doesn't matter....... What will you come up with next?

You could always just post Pete saying these extreme views and we could all decide for ourselves.
