The two sticking points in negotiations are reportedly the reopening of the Strait and Iran's nuclear capability.

The Strait, of course, was open prior to the war.   Now it's closed.  Thanks, Trump.

With respect to nuclear capability, if only there was a deal that would prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons through a rigorous, long-term inspection and verification process.  Oh wait.  There was such a deal but someone pulled the US out of it, without an effective replacement.  Thanks, Trump.

You are wrong. The war has been a boon to the Iranian economy. Didn’t you see they had increased oil revenue for a few days?

It's been a boon to the IRGC.

How Iran is making a mint from Donald Trump’s war

I don’t have an economist subscription. I can guess they say “something, something oil profits”.

And if they mention that without mentioning hundreds of billions in IRGC infrastructure damage, the complete debasement of the Rial, major loss of capacity at South Pars, long term realignment away from moving oil supply through the Strait and an impending blockade well then they’re just someone pushing an agenda.

The idea that a temporary increase in oil profits somehow offsets all that is farcical

lol...it hasn't been a boon dum dum. They're dealing with hyperinflation and the entire economy might collapse by the end of the month if the blockade remains in place.  Stop posting nonsense.

Stop offering opinions and present facts, with support.

The regime has made a shit-ton of money since the war began.  I've offered multiple links that speak to that.  If you believe I'm wrong, counter it with something substantive.  Let's see a link that refutes my point. Otherwise, move on to another topic.

Sure, the economy might collapse because the regime doesn't give a shit about the people.  But the regime will survive with little difficulty.

Sure, the economy might collapse, but it's been a booming economy 🤣🤣 You sound like Trump when he claimed he was a first aid worker in the recent meme he posted.

And Megyn Kelly continues her descent. Really disheartening.

The US Naval blockade obviously changes things, but my statement that the IRGC's oil revenue surged during the first six weeks of the war is accurate.  You weren't able to refute that so, predictably, you moved the goalposts and resorted to a straw man fallacy.

Let me rephrase this for you in language that I know you'll understand because it's language that you use:  The regime's oil revenue "has went up" since the start of the war.

I responded to the boon statement. Oil production makes up around 20-25% of Iran's economy.  Try to spin it however you want, but the war hasn't been good for the IRGC economically or militarily.  By the way you can still be against the war and not like Trump.

It's just annoying watching sh#t libs twisting themselves into knots trying to convince people the U.S. is losing.  We're not losing militarily or economically.  The IRGC is getting their sh#t kicked in, which is a good thing.

That is great advice.  Make sure you pay attention to whomever said it.  The world won't end if Iran's economy collapses.

I think you should also apply it to the sources that you are reading that say that Iran's economy is on the brink of collapse.

Nobody (reasonable) is saying that we are losing this war militarily.  Iran has no shot at matching us militarily, so they are playing by the only rules that allow them any leverage (the strait).  If you are losing a war, you cheat.  You make the other side hurt / die more than you.  They can't kill us, so the only option they have is to hurt the us in whatever manner they can, and hope that they can sustain it long enough that the enemy is forced to change tactics.

It's a giant game of chicken.  Trump is saying that pain at the gas pump and a less-than-the-greatest-economy-evah!!! is a necessary short-term inconvenience.  I am sure that the Ayatollah (or whomever is actually in charge) is telling their people an equivalent rosier-than-it-actually-is picture.

It's just going to come down to which populace's "suffering" reaches a breaking point first.  Iran's people are absolutely suffering more than we are, but we're a pretty vapid, "Oh my god my food bill went up 5%" somebody has to pay for this!" type of society.   We've been at war for 25 years now in the middle east.  We're getting tired of it.  Iran knows this and is betting on us losing our nerve.  It's not a great strategy, but it's really the only one with a chance to succeed.

Iran will not win this war, but they are going to make sure that they inflict as much hardship as they can on us in the process.

Trump is a deeply angry narcissist who expects immediate obedience. Iran is an ancient civilization led by a totalitarian theocratic regime. When an American soldier dies it's a national tragedy. When an Iranian dies, he achieves martyrdom.

Trump is infuriated Iran refuses to capitulate. Every day this goes on drives Trump crazier. But Trump is beginning to show signs of apathy. He remarked this might last beyond the November elections. This world has only known furious Donald. If Iran can drive him into apathy who knows what he'll do but it will be interesting.
