Not that it matters so much to him since he's been in GITMO for 25 years. Poor bastard. 😀

@aloha-hoosier that’s interesting. No idea how any of that works. Maybe no speedy trial etc.

He will never be free again. I'd be happy to see him hanged.

We lost our collective minds after 9-11. We became what we once opposed.

Enhanced Interrogation Techniques weren't even close to what the terrorist did. Not at all. My biggest issue during that time were the boneheads that claimed that it didn't work as far as getting information. It obviously did. We can disagree about whether it was torture or not, but it did work. I have a friend, a JAG, that was a witness for some of those interrogations. In his opinion, it was torture, but he also said that anyone that claimed we didn't get actionable intelligence from those interrogations was a fool.

What other country would do this after 9/11? How much you empathize with terrorist shitheads is noted however.

How's that?
We missed our best chance to resolve this back when Obama was repatriating several of those jokers.
I maintained then (and now) that we should have loaded the entire remaining contingent of Gitmo prisoners on the oldest C130 in the retired inventory; give it just enough fuel to make it half way across the Atlantic; crew it with a 4 man Seal Team and have them kick those a-holes off the ramp individually over the last 100 miles, maybe stuffing a bloody fish down the back of their jumpsuit on the way out so they’d have immediate shark company once in the water.
Then you could have had the team send a MayDay, put the plane on autopilot, do a low altitude, low opening jump off the ramp before the 130 ran out of fuel and crashed in the ocean, preferably in a spot too deep to consider a salvage op…
Had we done that they still would have gotten off too easy in my opinion…
I agree with you that torture can elicit true, important information (along with false information, too, I'm sure). Not that it matters so much to him since he's been in GITMO for 25 years. Poor bastard. 😀

But I'm not sure why you say "It obviously did" and then recite an anecdote invovling a personal connection that can't even talk about the particulars in order for people to confirm if he's right or not.

We tortured people. We denied it, but everyone knows it. We claim to be better than that, but we're really little different from those we condemn. End justifies the means.
Best to keep him completely sequestered until 2028. All he has to do is get his hands on a cell phone from his lawyer, tweet something pro-Trump, and all bets are off on whether Trump pardons him.

We talked particulars privately. No doubt he was right.
