IMO, Health insurance companies are the biggest problem that drive up costs. Obama Care made it worse. If i want a mobile phone service I don't go to some middle man and pay to tell me where to purchase. If the Federal govt. had any competence, i'd be all for Universal Healthcare in some fashion along with privatized medical company memberships like what Uruguay has to offer.
I just got back from running my typical Wednesday errands (grocery store, banking, etc) and it's bad out there. Our board leftists were right. The world is falling apart with this shut down. Lines miles long for fuel, armed bandits at every intersection, hospitals and health clinics burning, Hand to hand combat with geriatrics for the last loaf of rye...It's apocalyptic.
Things tend to not be noticeable when you force 80%+ of them to keep working (just not get paid) while the Congressional idiots play around at doing their job.

funny, I didn’t peg you as a "eff the military and their families, those a-holes don't need a paycheck" kind of guy

Not exactly true. It takes 60 to stop the filibuster. A simple majority can be used in a budget resolution. Maybe that's what you were thinking about.

Why did Ossoff vote nay? He has a large military population that will not get paid. As I said previously….the Democratic leadership has painted themselves into a corner. Ossoff has chosen the socialists over the soldiers. Why?

Early polling suggests the voters are slightly more likely to blame the GOP, believe it or not. Maybe we should withhold judgment on the Dems' political acumen (or lack thereof) for a hot minute.
Wait, you said the shutdown was wonderful, and now want to flip-flop?

Budget reconciliation under the Byrd rule can happen with a simple majority, but only once a year. Its been done once already this year. Maybe that's what you were thinking about.

They are eventually going to vote to fund “Hitler’s” government….the progressives base is not going to be happy. The swing district Democrats will get a progressive opponent in the primary…who may not be able to win. Senators like Ossoff have chosen to vote in a manner that means the large military contingent in Georgia will not get paid. He will have to tell them that funding NPR and healthcare for illegals is more important. This is the politics we are going to see play out.
OMB is going to play a roll.
