My kids want to go somewhere to eat as well. We're having a cookout instead. Oldest is coming over with her boo and grandson. When the grandson is involved, my two youngest always change their tune with what they want to do.

Inconvenient truth: winning a primary has NEVER been a prerequisite for being a presidential candidate. More presidential candidates have not been in primaries than have been in primaries, thoughout US history.
From the 1700s through ~1900, there weren't primaries. Until 1972, no party required candidates to even enter a primary. 1968, LBJ dropped out just before the convention, weighed down by Vietnam. Humphrey was nominated. Never ran in any primary. After that, primaries became more standard. Still, a primary "winner" may or may not win the nomination, in EITHER major party. Delegates can be released if early voting is not decisive.
