French Villagers just called Pete Hegseth “persona non grata” and demanded he stay home from D-Day ceremonies
Pete Hegseth made the trip to Normandy, France for the D-Day anniversary — but residents of Langrune-sur-Mer made clear he was not welcome. Locals and civic groups in the small coastal town publicly declared him unwanted before he even landed, releasing a pointed statement demanding his visit be canceled outright.
Sylvie Lamy Thepaut, a local community organizer, was direct in her criticism, saying Hegseth’s aggressive rhetoric and worldview stand in direct opposition to the democratic values that Allied soldiers died defending on those very beaches.
A formal statement from the civic organization Langrune en Commun went further, citing his history of anti-European remarks and what they described as American supremacist posturing. The group argued that honoring the memory of the young soldiers who gave their lives for democracy required speaking out against someone they see as a threat to it.
Fellow group member Chantal Richard echoed that sentiment, saying silence on Hegseth’s values would be the worst possible response. She called out what she sees as his far-right, warmongering ideology and noted that his pattern of undermining the international institutions born from World War II is not normal and should not be treated as such.
Hegseth, unbothered by the backlash, used his D-Day speech to take shots at European allies who have declined to join Trump’s confrontation with Iran. He also brought six of his children along on the taxpayer-funded trip, which drew additional criticism from military officials who noted the significant security resources required to protect his family during an official government delegation.
As an American surely you scoff at such a thing.
French people saying “stay away” on the anniversary of the day the Americans began the liberation of France.
It’s an event; of course bigger than some villagers and their political priors.
Shame on them.
No, shame on this administration and the people that still support it
He lied repeatedly in that interview. She was right to attempt to insert facts. The man sure does know how to embarrass our country.

The fubar concert series is Freedom 250, not America 250. The MAGA shit is all Freedom 250. The America 250 programming isn't being directed by Trump and is going well.
You chew your vanilla pudding, don’t ya?
If men were any more stupid, we would have breed for the extinction of women. Proof yet again that WE are the best thing they have going for them.
I missed Meet the Press (on a early bike ride) but I guess our Cockwomble in Chief stormed out of an interview after the host asked him for evidence of claims of rigged CA elections. The toddler got all mad! How dare you ask for evidence of anything! The nerve!

For what reason?
I think we would all be appalled at how much taxpayer money gets spent on security details for stuff like this. Trump constantly golfing, administration bringing their entire family on trips unnecessarily, etc.
Cutting out luxury planes and all this crap would have allowed the DOGE to find a lot more savings than their firing of people at the bottom of the food chain.
Republicans are proving they don't care about fiscal responsibility. The only difference is Republicans spend money on themselves and the rich and Dems spend money on themselves and at least help the poor

Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.

Because I don't like New Yorkers or New York fans. For what reason?
Plus, I love the delicious irony of the progressive MeidasTouch organization validating the whining of people who can afford $10K-$60K for a single basketball game ticket. Just so they can complain about Trump. It's hilarious.
