You deny that a number of firms have rolled over? Trump claims they have .

Posted by: @bradstevens

We’ve been through this before.  Not “all” firms settled, and many of those that did settle, did so in all likelihood because they had broken the law in their internal DEI practices–from hiring to holding struggle sessions for white people.

Google AI has a different take on it:

what law firms have "knuckled under" to Trump's demands

AI Overview

A number of prominent U.S. law firms have settled with the Trump administration in 2025 to avoid sanctions for representing clients seen as his political opponents

. In exchange for dropping government actions against them, the firms pledged to provide millions of dollars in pro bono legal services for causes favored by the administration. Critics describe these agreements as "capitulating" or "knuckling under" to pressure from the White House.

Nine firms that settled with the Trump administration
The following firms reached agreements with the Trump administration between March and April 2025, according to news reports and White House statements:

  • Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison: Reached a deal in March to provide $40 million in free legal aid after being targeted with an executive order.
  • Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom: Announced a $100 million pro bono commitment in March to avoid being targeted with an executive order.
  • Willkie Farr & Gallagher: Agreed to provide $100 million in pro bono work and to implement "merit-based" hiring in a preemptive settlement.
  • Milbank LLP: Committed to $100 million in pro bono legal services in a deal reached to avoid an executive order.
  • A&O Shearman: Was among a group of firms that reached an agreement in April. The firm committed $125 million in pro bono services.
  • Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft: Also announced a settlement in April, including a $100 million pro bono commitment.
  • Kirkland & Ellis: Reached a deal in April to provide $125 million in pro bono legal services.
  • Latham & Watkins: Agreed in April to provide $125 million in pro bono services.
  • Simpson Thacher & Bartlett: Pledged $125 million in pro bono services in April as part of its agreement.
  •
Backlash and internal strife
The settlements caused significant controversy in the legal community. The deals were widely criticized by legal ethics experts, bar associations, and judges, who warned they set a dangerous precedent for government retaliation against lawyers. Inside the settling firms, some lawyers and associates quit their jobs in protest.

Some clients also expressed reservations or moved business away from the firms that settled. For example, after Latham & Watkins made a deal, a major client, Microsoft, temporarily removed it from its list of preferred firms.

What the firms received in return
In exchange for their concessions, the firms received assurances from the White House:

  • Executive orders were rescinded or not issued against them.
  • Federal investigations into their hiring practices, specifically regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, were ended.
  • Restrictions on attorneys' security clearances and access to federal buildings were removed.
  • The deals also helped them maintain their ability to handle work for corporate clients with federal contracts.
  •
Firms that fought back
Not all targeted firms settled. A number of firms chose to fight the administration in court, arguing that the executive orders were unconstitutional and retaliatory. These firms include:

  • Perkins Coie
  • Jenner & Block
  • WilmerHale
  • Susman Godfrey
  •
As of September 2025, judges have temporarily blocked or struck down the executive orders against these firms. Some clients have reportedly rewarded their resolve by shifting new business to them.

@bradstevens they have no basis to understand.  A classmate was at Sidney when the plane hit his bldg.  he messaged us at 3:00 that he was in a makeshift office billing away.  These firms don’t give two shits about trump.  Rollover lol. Financials. Billable. Shares. That’s the calculus

DoD now wants the free press to be its propaganda organ:

"The Pentagon released new restrictions for journalists covering the Department of Defense this week, requiring them to sign a pledge not to gather or report on information that has not been authorized for release—even if it is unclassified. Those who do not obey the new rules, the Pentagon said, risk having their press credentials revoked."

James should be thrilled. Doesn't look like she's the least bit qualified.  Except for being a Ms. Colorado contestant a few times.

Serious question: surely the USA for the district isn't the primary litigant on any actual case, is she? She just orders the underlings to make the case and bring charges and prosecute the accused, correct?

Who couldn't see the bailout coming?

So glad we're paying for Argentina and now farmers bailouts.

The perpetually ignorant Trump, who infamously doesn’t (can’t?) read his briefings, has repeatedly tried to claim that he personally was responsible for resolving a conflict between Albania and Azerbaijan.

Trump bragged on Fox News that “I solved wars that was unsolvable. Azerbaijan and Albania, it was going on for many, many years, I had the prime ministers and presidents in my office.”

In reality, there has been a conflict simmering between Azerbaijan and its neighbor, Armenia. There is no conflict with Albania, many hundreds of miles away in the Balkans.T

This is a source of amusement for several world leaders who are clearly sick of Trump’s sh*t. Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama joked to France’s President Macron that “You should make an apology … to us because you didn’t congratulate us on the peace deal that President Trump made between Albania and Azerbaijan.”

“I am sorry for that!” laughed Macron.

A deal was recently brokered between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Trump was not there ad neither was any US representative. There is no evidence that Trump had any significant role whatsoever, also evidenced by the fact that he doesn’t even know the countries involved in the conflict or the peace talks.

Next he will claim that he brokered a deal between Azerbaijan and Alabama.

Trump, a laughingstock in the eyes of all world leaders, continues to be a national embarrassment and a disgrace to our nation. Itis going to take decades to rebuild our standing with the international community the way that he’s dragged our good name through the mud.

Idiot.

Argentina’s fiscal cliff was unavoidable. Milei or no Milei. Milei has undoubtedly made great headway.

Do we have an interest in helping out a pro-American ally on a continent that is increasingly more anti-American?

Maybe it’s not our business. Maybe the Marshall Plan wasn’t our business.
