I've never met an MBA that has said, "I'm not sure" or "I don't know".

@hooky I had a meeting with a couple lawyers I know who started an ai biz. It was the same SEO shit that’s been around forever. I suspect a lot of that is going to be popping up.
@bar-down yeah we are getting ready to do a bunch of planning and strategy work for a big financial services company. The Go To Market portion of the engagement is probably 45-50% AI strategy right now. I expect that when we review it with them next week they'll tell us they want even more focus on it. At the end of the day, it's just another form of SEO. I ask Gemini "How do I buy gold/silver/options/futures/etc.. online" and I go with whatever source(s) it spits out after telling me how to do it. It's the wild west again.

@hooky i was hoping it was going to replace customer service stuff, sales stuff, on and on. instead it was how to make sure whatever the 57 outlets are list us how to maximize seo bs etc. we're not a client like you have. we're tiny. and our customer base isn't searching on google

We're doing that stuff for B2B customers. We have a pilot going with one right now where they take email orders from smaller customers who don't use EDI. AI scans the email, populates the order template, compares it to purchase history to verify quantity (make sure they're not ordering 100 when they usually order 10), make sure it's everything they need to make it work (if you order 2 of these, you need to have 4 of those to install it), and then scores it. Based on the score, it routes to a workflow to either process the order, send it back to the client for edits/approval, or request some form of human intervention.
It's for configure to order stuff, so I'm oversimplifying it, but you get the idea.

Not sure it will impact sales much.

@hooky Yeah that is what i thought they were going to talk to us about! to a neophyte like myself that's what i think of with AI. search engine optimization shit i've been aware of for more than a decade. and i get that there's maybe new components to it but....

Bingo. Lower level customer service, order by email/phone shit will be gone in 18 months for most larger enterprises. My focus is turning to agentic workflow orchestration at the process level. You'll be shocked to learn that most hands on keyboard work these days is not remarkably difficult. we've just been using humans as decision makers and exception finders. scary world two years from now.

Sales people who sell things with low unit cost, low margin, and/or high transaction volumes will be gone sooner than you think.
Complex sales like what Salesforce is based upon will take longer to disappear, but they'll eventually go too.

Eventually AI should be able to create self-regulating/self-improving systems so no external regulation is necessary. My real world experience is this:
We've tested Claude to write code. We're getting the same amount of output as a couple of offshore devs. We still need an architect to do code reviews and either feed it prompts to rewrite or make the required changes to meet spec, but you have to do that with the offshore guys too.
We need to train our architects on writing prompts (should be relatively easy for them), but the biggest limitation is coming up with all the policies to govern how we use it to remain compliant for our clients in regulated industries and to limit our liability when we use it.
Telling coal miners "Learn to Code" was a joke before, but now it's becoming a joke for most young people too. Wild times.
Thus, no more lawyers.
Eventually there will be no more anything. We are witnessing the beginning of the end of work.

It's both sad and exhilarating at the same time. On the one hand, I like people. On the other hand, the crap coming out of college (that we can hire for 60k a year) and the younger generation in general (again, at 60k/yr) is not bright. AI is going to eat that shit up. Especially in highly rules based environments like claims, collections, etc.
