This knee jerk reaction by too many leftist to try and disparage a person who was just assassinated a week ago is eye opening.  It also shows just how far left the Overton window has shifted for some of you.

The knee jerk reaction by too many righties to try and deify Kirk -- and characterize anything said that's less than worshipful as disparaging -- is eye opening.

What's mind boggling to me is how Kirk is being made a martyr to free speech, and the response to his killing is to threaten those engaging in speech they don't like with societal/political ostracism -- or worse.

Yes, Mark the week after someone is assiassianted some people might treat them as a martyr and oversell them.  Who gives a f#ck?  If AOC just got her head blown off I wouldn't say a disparaging word about or care when the left oversold her.   Give  it a month or so and then you guys can have some fun with it.  It should be common decency to at least wait a while before you care about those petty issues.

@unclemark if you can’t tell the difference in content that’s on you.  Kirk should be held in the highest regard.  People disagreed with him. I did. “Prove him wrong.”  With words.  He will come to you and let’s talk beliefs and ideas.  What we see from the left is just vile. Hate-filled people.  Their speech is transparent.  It’s not to create a dialogue. It’s to shame.  To shout.   And so much of it is right where he went. These colleges and college towns.  I’ve said it before. In 35 years of following politics, in school and out, I’ve never seen such a distasteful group as today’s left.  I’d be embarrassed to call myself a Dem

@hoopsdoc those were Kirk’s beliefs.  He shared them in public.  Civil Rights Act,  Replacement Theory, Great Covid Reset, 2020 Election Fraud — this was his brand.

I think you guys mean well, but the whitewashing we do for team has gotta stop.

Being against the civil right s act dates back to Buckley. Do you have a link where Kirk says “the Jews” are behind the reset?

@mcm666 Can you point to a sitting Democrat in the US Congress that ran on defunding the police?

GIF

honest question given some on here having a propensity to keep repeating the accusation...despite the right wanting to defund the fbi at one time as well.

It's a great example of hypocrisy at its finest.  It's also an example of greatly exaggerating an outdated, inaccurate accusation given the idea wasn't literally defunding police but more about not using them as swiss army knives to tackle issues that might be better resolved with non-police officers.  Of course, it was only mentioned by a few dems and quickly fizzled out.  Curious how many years some posters will keep bringing it up like it is even relevant any more.  But I guess when they support far worse from conservatives, they have to bring up whatever they can in order to make their views seem more reasonable.

Kirk was vile and spread hatred towards others.

He should be held with zero regard.

The Kirk murder, and the response from both the right and the left, is enlightening.  Ever since Trump came on the scene, MAGA has been a lightening rod for criticism, by all Dems and many in the GOP, including some good conservative friends here.  The opposition response to MAGA was nearly 100% focused on Trumpism, which is essentially Trump’s style.  Kirk was a committed MAGA, he was throwing MAGA hats into the crowd moments before he was murdered.  He said he “loved” Trump.

Kirk was nearly 100% Substance.  His MO was to always engage with words and ideas about religion, politics, and most importantly, living a good life no matter your religious beliefs.

The Kirk supporters response to his murder?  Keep his message alive and make it stronger than ever!  I believe them.  The substance of Kirk will live on and become bigger than ever.  That is the MAGA  message.

Back to Trump. The democrats, and the republicans, who oppose Trump, are badly mistaken by believing that the way to defeat him is to yell, scream, call him Hitler and his supporters fascists. It’s about substance.  The Dems need to respond to the border, entrepreneurship, defense, the Middle East, and more on substance—not with marches, and No Kings Day BS.  Trump and MAGA has always been about substance.  I think Kirk, with his gruesome death, sends that message loud and clear.

@co-hoosier "always been about substance"... well, after it started with the birther campaign...and then immigrants being killers and rapists... Hyperbole was what it started with and grew under.  Its certainly not devoid of substance, but to say its always been about it?...is absurd.

20 years ago the right wasn’t leaning so heavily on conspiracy theories.  The evangelicals were just getting going,

Evangelicals were “just getting going” a hell of a lot earlier than 2005. How old are you?

@hurryinghoosiers he believed in family and religion.  i'm sure that the woke trannie crowd does find that despicable.  but that's not really the point.  the point is that he expressed his opinions and viewpoints without violence.  he didn't burn down community neighborhoods.  riot.  he went to campuses and said basically let's talk.  and for that he should be lauded

@hurryinghoosiers The more people that say things like what you just typed, the more the Democratic party will continue to erode.

When people were being cancelled and called out for what the left referred to as racist beliefs, did you hold the same position or did you make some type of argument about free speech principles protecting you from govt censorship but that your right to free speech didn’t insulate you from societal repercussions from expressing unpopular opinions?

You're a complete idiot. I dare you to find and link one video where he preached hate.  They are all over YouTube.  Good luck.

I won't speak for Kirk or his family, but the way the Trump administration and others are weaponizing his death to attack any and all opposing voices is kind of shameful and shameless at the same time.

You have the Vice President telling people to turn people saying things he disagrees with in to their employers and the US Attorney General saying they're going after people for loosely defined 'hate speech.' Crazy times.

Kirk's death is being used as the touchpoint for this type of authoritarianism. I'm not sure how he'd feel or how his widow and family feel about that though.
