and go to Europe before someone dike kills her.
I agree. She’s the best thing that has ever happened to that league & they treat her like trash…
@oneeyedundertaker woke and miserable. It’s been such a joy watching the World Cup. Everyone singing their national anthems at the top of their lungs. What a contrast to the blm rapinoe kneeling stupidity. That toxicity poisons the wnba. Dems….
Clark gets a lot of grief, mostly undeserved, but characterizing that second of the defender pushing off as a "punch in the throat" is total bullshit. But yeah, the Fox people are loving it. Plays into the racial animus narrative.

It wasn't a punch, but putting all that weight on her throat can have the same result. I'm not going to nitpick punch or push off, but focus instead on how wrong that could have went.
With that said, the WNBA is a joke that wouldn't exist if not for the subsidies from the NBA. They've screwed up the golden opportunity to stand on their own two feet and actually be in the position to demand higher pay.
Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.

Mostly undeserved? I’m all ears to hear your example of when it was deserved.
To be clear, there is a very clear line between rough basketball plays and just trying to hurt someone. I believe the most recent example was just someone trying to hurt Clark and should have no place in basketball.
That said, Clark loves to taunt opposing players and complain a lot. That doesn’t excuse the excess force opposing teams have used against her, but it probably doesn’t endear her to a lot of players either. Sophie Cunningham is constantly labeled as Caitlin Clark’s enforcer. Look up her name and Jacy Sheldon for an example of her filling that role. She’s been fined for excessive behavior and is celebrated for it.
Basketball is a rough sport and sometimes hard fouls are part of the game.Beating the shit out of someone or intentionally hurting someone is not.
@oneeyedundertaker read this. They really hate her. The reasons are rooted in woke-ism and arrogance but the hatred is real. This league can’t die quickly enough.

She's the Great White Hope. The resentment is indefensible, but it's understandable.

Thats just silly. I think it’s accurate that she’s probably the third best player behind Wilson and Boecker, but I can’t imagine 8 other players better than her.
It does seem like other players in the league don’t like her. I’d guess it’s more out of jealousy but I don’t know.
@ohio-guy I’m sure jealousy plays a role, but it’s a minor one. Mark hit on the head what it really is.
It’s the brainwashing of minorities (race and sexual orientation) to always make them feel oppressed. The reasons within the WNBA for why it’s historically unpopular - to the players - was racism and sexism. They can’t fathom that the product sucks.
now the great white hope (who’s actually a really really good player) arrives and she’s hated by those that would rather wallow in their invented oppression.
the Left’s approach is a cancer and it spreads.

It really is unfortunate because Clark has elevated the WNBA to levels of popularity they hadn't reached. And even though I haven't seen direct stats on this, I keep hearing that revenue is way up - enough to charter flights for teams instead of making them fly commercial/coach (which makes sense given the heightened popularity).
All that said, as wrong and misguided as it is I see where the players are coming from. What I don't get is why the WNBA doesn't protect their star player. They undoubtedly have the ticket sales, viewership and increased revenue dollars surrounding Clark. Why they don't protect her with stricter officiating and steep fines for flagrant fouls is beyond me. When one of these mid-level girls making $100K has to pay a $20,000 fine for slamming Clark to the floor (or any player really), this shit probably gets nipped in the bud quickly.
@ohio-guy what exactly do you mean you “see where the players are coming from” ? You mean that you think it’s ok to hate a great player that’s white and heterosexual because they’re mostly African American and gay and the league was failing before her?

No. Reread the part of my sentence you didn't quote. I don't agree with their actions or condone them, but largely for the reasons you gave, I see why their misguided actions are rooted in misguided beliefs.
@ohio-guy gotcha. I thought it was a strange way to finish that first clause of the sentence because it almost disclaimed it. But I hear you.
In the real world, I’ve never seen whiny behavior like this. I have a friend who is in the c suite at a mid size energy firm and he’s said he’s heard some crazy shit in the boardroom but most people I work with don’t even consider race to be a factor in the workplace.
these dumb athletes and celebrities and pseudo-journos like Jemele Hill live in a bubble. The problem is they try to project their bubble onto those of us with real lives and jobs.
