The skill set for soccer is a fraction of what it is for baseball. Half a century ago the USA dominated baseball. Now the world is catching up and learning a game much more sophisticated and technical than soccer. The problem with baseball is that it has no crowd appeal. Watching fastball pitcher match wits with a fastball hitter, or watching a third baseman throw out a runner on a slo hop is boring compared to Messi kicking a ball into a net, but there is more skill involved in both, skills that take years to develop.

@bar-down don't do it. let it go. I'm worried for you.
"The skill set for soccer is a fraction of what it is for baseball." - This is an objectively bad take.
Like watching 5 seconds of hacky sack on an infinite loop. I’ve seen yo-yo videos with more skill.
@carramrod lmao Americans. The league is full of Dominicans. A tiny little country. no problem making it to the majors. Few years ago the cards didn’t have a single black dude. In America. The best player in the entire league is Japanese.
the beautiful game is played by a quarter of a billion people all trying to get to the top leagues. You’re comparing The Dominican’s past time to The World’s Sport
I'm a Cubs fan and our starting lineup is as follows:
C: Carson kelly
1B: Michael Busch
2B: Nico Hoerner
SS: Dansby Swanson
3B: Alex Bregman
LF: Ian Happ
CF: Pete Crow-Armstrong
RF: Seiya Suzuki
DH: Michael Conforto
Utility: Matt Shaw
I count 9 whites, one Jap. Now that is anomalous, the Ricketts' have some weird, clean cut white boy fetish. But I don't watch a game that's been "taken over by Dominicans"
@co-hoosier the world lol. A few countries care about. A tiny country like the Dominican already figured it out. So no. You’re wrong on all counts. Stick to pedaling you’re out of your skill set posting on this topic
@carramrod 100-150 at any season. Throw in the Venezuelans. The best in the league is Japanese. No blacks. It’s a sport of white country kids who don’t move well or they’d play football in the south.
Watching a player trying to kick a ball into a 22x8 foot opening is not the same as throwing a fastball through a 17 inch opening while making it look like the fastball is outside the opening.
@carramrod the Ozzie smith elite athletes have quit in droves. Having lived in the south its country football rejects

Someone told me soccer excellence is not about the "best athletes" in the traditional sense. The drop-off in black MLB players since the 90's is regrettable. They're still not playing soccer.
@co-hoosier bringing a 70 yard pass over your shoulder down on your shoestrings in perfect stride while running full speed with a guy pushing you and then hitting a rocket as soon as your other foot touches in front of a stadium of 100,000 and the entire world watching is something your municipal brain could never comprehend.
