Caffey is a shocker to me. Not irreplaceable, especially offensively, but a good looking frosh who I expected a good career from.

It is close to irreplaceable. We seem to take a year to really get guards in the system, Cardano-Hillary and Shay seemed to have some struggles first year in, played far better in year 2.
Teams aren't supposed to contact players, but we know they do. Wouldn't surprise me here.
@arthur-dent I think there's a good chance Battle and James are at least as good as her (offensively). And she was also probably tampered with.
Is IU too poor to keep its good players now? Is all the money going to football and men’s basketball?
@gros-louis but they have zero experience in college and zero in Moren's defense first philosophy. Our guards that have come in spend the first year so focused on D that their O suffers.
Maybe it is a bias from men's basketball but I am a huge believer that experience at point is more important than at any other position and it isn't close. I don't think senior Cayden Boozer tries that pass, but freshman Boozer did.
Of course there is nothing we can do about it except cheer on whomever takes the floor next year. But we typically struggle against press teams, and I am not sure I see that improving next year without Caffey. I hopefully am wrong.
These two made great strides as the season progressed. I was hoping the early portal announcements were all the players we were going to lose. This is starting to look like Moren’s early years (before the portal) when she would lose several players every year. I think Moren has done a good job here, but this doesn’t look good.

Sounds like someone is offering her more $$.
I agree about our guards and the press. And I know she was a freshman, but given that she couldn't shoot or do much else offensively, the fact that she was just a decent ball handler was disappointing to me. I'm hopeful that James and Battle have good handles and bring SOMETHING to the offensive end of the court. Because Caffey really did not.

The last couple games she looked more willing to shoot. But again, Cardano-Hillary, Scalia, Ciezki, all played far better in year 2. Nicole had been a 3 year starter before coming here and had growing pains.
Moren is an elite coach. After sitting through Izard, Bennett, and Leggette-Jack, she has been incredible. Her first year I was worried, everyone was scared to death to shoot. Our main offense was Buss getting fouled on a drive as the shot clock went to 0. In some ways the impact she has on player confidence reminds me of Knight. A certain tearing down to build back up.
If we are in an era that we change over guards yearly, I fear we need to rethink some things.
@gros-louis great, she sounds like someone we need. I didn't know about the tournament or I would have come up (up at Fishers now).
Hopefully she's prepared for defense first.

Parrish had lots of individual NIL money coming in directly due to her hotness that other players don't get, so it's easier for her to dismiss the money factor involved now.

I think she was talking in general with the first line, and making a warning with the second.
