big ten is an average conference for soccer but i'm surprised to see some really historically strong programs down like ucla, rutgers, and maryland. d1 soccer is incredibly difficult to predict with foreigners taking over. a national championship of vermont vs marshall says it all in the current environmentUnited Soccer Coaches put together a top 25 preseason poll on July 31, 2025 and your Indiana Hoosiers were ranked #11. @mcm666 Why do we see so many foreign players? Are these players not good enough for the academies wherever they're from? What is the career like for a foreign born player usally amount to? Is this basically an opportunity for foreign born players to extend their careers while having the chance to get an education? I don't have a pulse on these circumstances. Anyone care to educate me?
@eppy99 it’s been going on forever but yes many crapped out overseas so why not get a free education AND chance to reboot their soccer
Honestly it's such an attractive sales pitch I'm surprised we haven't seen entire teams of foreign born players yet. Nonetheless, while it is weird sometimes, it does increase the quality of college soccer by a lot.
