@goat speaking of small and kind of crazy to think about. i had a couple of my college teammates leave our team and give up eligibility to go play champions league. you think of it like barca and real etc but it is literally going on right now, i.e. games being played today, with tiny community clubs in tiny countries. it's pretty damn neat
Barca, ManU, Dortmund. Over the last 4 years I also began collecting soccer trading cards. I had a nice collection of modern cards such as Autographed Haaland, Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappe, Bellingham and a couple Maradonna and Pele cards. I have rookie cards for all but Maradonna and Pele. I also have a few signed rookie Yamal cards. Prices skyrocketed during covid but have since come back down. Part of my gamble on cards was the idea the World Cup is coming here and I thought the value of the cards would take off. Not so much.....
@McM666 did you see Celtic dismantle Newcastle in a friendly this weekend? Apparently Newcastle had a couple of important guys out, so it might not mean much, but from what little I saw and from what I read, it was a right old schooling.
After the preseason games are you planning to do a "season preview?" I'd love to read more about the upcoming year. I'd like to know more about the incoming freshman/transfers, what the team has been doing to prepare for this year. I'd love some sound bites or print from any of the coaches if that's available. Any information on the opponents for this year would be cool. I used to subcribe to the website, College Soccer News. I think that was the site. I would enjoy seeing the weekly rankings, the top upcoming games for the week and most outstanding players from the previous week. I know this is a board centered on IU soccer, just wanted to give my 2 cents on the type of content I previously enjoyed. Since I've never been able to attend many games I usually would rely on Snowling (RIP) for information. With that said I'm looking forward to any content on the soccer team. TIA
Anyone been watching the women's Eurocup? I've been catching some of the elimination games with my daughter who is a rabid fan of women's soccer. I've got to admit these games have been highly competitive. The shootout between England and Sweden was bonkers. One of the craziest I've ever seen. Yesterday's semi between England/Italy was also a great game.
On a seperate note, I'd love to hear some opinions on the best or worst transfers of the summer. I was saddened to see Jamie Gittens leave Dortmund, but you can't argue with how well they've done developing players and selling high. As for ManU I'm not sure what the hell they're doing. They seem to be in desperation mode. I think the battle for Premier League supremacy will be amazing this year. I expect to see Man City have a bounce back year. Liverpool and Aresenel will be tough to beat and are adding stars, but I fear Saka will be a shell of himself given his injury. It's a shame because I'm a big fan of his. Looking forward to the year! I'm also going to be watching Barca closely to see if they have enough to beat Real Madrid.

I just don't care that much about women's soccer, but man, it must be baller to be a fan of the English women right now. They are having a hell of a run.
@goat not a huge fan of the women, but a chance to watch a game with my daughter without her looking at her phone for two hours….count me in.
@eppy99 Hey Eppy! We absolutely plan on covering IU soccer, yes! We have limited resources so football and basketball will take more space up on the site, but we will not forget about soccer. Soccer is personally my favorite sport so I am dedicated to releasing regular IU soccer articles throughout the season - no need to worry there

EPL is starting up soon. Anyone care to predict the top 4? Not going out on a limb to predict, Liverpool, Man City, Aresenal. Who will grab that coveted 4th spot?
Btw, EPL has 6 spots this year in the Champions League. I believe that's a first time since the EPL won the Europa last year.
I'll be paying close attention to Barca vs Real Madrid. Yamal is must watch TV for me.
Another kid I'm interested in I wasn't aware of until ESPN just had a piece on him. 16 year old kid transfered from Chelsea to Liverpool. Rio Ngumoha, from England (not sure of his ancestry). Will be getting some minutes due to the departure of Darwin Nunez. He's scored some goals in the preseason. Will be interesting to see if his game can translate to regular sesaon games.
Definitely agree with Liverpool, Arsenal, City. I think Chelsea is a good shout to get the 4 spot. Then maybe Newcastle and Villa for 5 and 6.
