I'm optimistic. For one, comparing this years team if they played last years team. How many players from that roster are better than this roster? The big men maybe? Ballo? Reneau? I think outside or small forward, this roster will be far better. Coaching? Anybody saying it's a close call?
So I think this team would tear last year's team a new #######... Not win them all of course. But most.
Last years' team was 10-10 in the big ten. I'd take anything there or better for year one. 12-8 or better sounds fun. If we go .500 I'll be disappointed but feel sure I'll still be optimistic, due to the play style, coaching, and recruiting.

Jesus. Bunch of god damn wordsmiths ITT. War and Peace was shorter. Add that I have the attention span of a 4 year old…

if you read the thread ... that was my original point ...then the pepper was picked out of the
This team lacks size. They may be a bit like a typical Northwestern team. Good guards and shooting. No inside presence.
@tr32 they do but if you look at Louisville last year they had 2 6’11 guys and a 6’10 guy. None were big. They were 210ish. Only two played significant minutes and one got hurt. I think we will be ok and he built this team to spread the floor much like UK and Louisville. Bigs are hard to get out of the portal especially guys that fit that style. Just not many around.
@tr32 I hope not and doubt it. NW played slow and never scored more than 73ish a game. Hope this team averages 80+. Hopefully even more than that actually.
Our B1g schedule is said to be one of the tougher ones. Maybe we'll finish further down than I thought after my extensive analysis of a couple minutes of clips from Puerto Rico.
Whatever it is should show improvement from the malaise surrounding the program in the past decade. Really looking forward to the season.
yeah, when you rely on the portal, and bring in almost entirely one year players, the expectations have to be higher. This isn’t a roster construction that is built for patience.
Don't know that I agree with this in CDD's case. He had to build the roster in large part out of need. When did he get hired; April? You think it's reasonable to expect him to build a roster largely of underclassmen at that point? I think he did try and get a mix, but it was largely 1 year guys, because that's largely who was available in the areas he needed players. If he'd prioritized eligibility, we'd have a very different looking roster that would probably really take it's lumps this season. I think he mixed it up pretty well, but is largely 1 year guys out of need.
@kkott we'll see who ends up getting the bulk of the minutes. I agree that most of the main rotation guys we'll rely on, are one year guys. But to be fair to CDD, 7 of the 13 roster members have eligibility remaining after this season. 4 of those have multiple years of eligibility. I don't think many are expecting those Frosh/Sophs to play a ton of minutes...and with that comes the risk of losing them. But in this new portal era, his roster is actually pretty balanced...remarkably so in my opinion.
been so long I've almost forgotten all the names on our new roster. Need to stoke this fire
