I see he has been arrested again on felony charges that seem similar to those he was arrested for several years ago. Anybody have any inside knowledge of what he was doing?

Starting to seem like an Art Schlister deal... just can stay out of trouble.

Should have just done some smash and grabs in Chicago.  Wouldn't have been arrested.

@ribbont Thanks for the Google post. It went beyond just the arrest felonies that I saw. Wow, TL has turned into a real scumbag. He needs serious help for whatever problem he has. I'm guessing gambling.

Todd has been a scumbag for decades at this point.

And yea, no idea what the victim was thinking as this slowly unfolded and he kept giving TL more and more money.

Most guys who go through the IU basketball program can be set for life in jobs/careers.

@iufan4lifer Exactly... which is why I was wondering what his deal was. He had a gig as the IU radio color guy too. He had to be blowing large amounts of money to somewhere.

He was tight with Coyle. Brand alignment.

Todd is a shit, it sounds like. Read several Todd Leary redemption articles in past years. But he never changes.

But he almost beat Duke in the TV Teddy game. So there s that.

I still laughed reading about the maroon and his money being soon parted. Sorry dude, but you are a maroon. Unbelievable.

Btw, I am building a high tech gym up here, just for your son. Please send me 250k for the groundbreaking. Then will only take another mil or so to finish. Your son will be a star. This secret technology is amazing.

Reminds of Art Schlitler(sp) of o$u. Just can't kick the addictions.

Hope he can get help.

@beez Gambling the best bet. See what I did?

While I regarded God as a tyrant I thought my sin a trifle; But when I knew Him to be my Father, then I mourned that I could ever have kicked against Him. When I thought God was hard, I found it easy to sin; but when I found God so kind, so good, so overflowing with compassion, I smote upon my breast to think that I could ever have rebelled against One who loved me so, and sought my good.” C. H. Spurgeon

Leery appears to maybe have defrauded an investor by saying he was going to hire various people to start an AAU program or join forces with another (player training was to be a part of it, too).  Those people apparently were never contacted by Leary.

He may have told that investor that he was buying equipment from Purdue.  Purdue says they never had discussions with Leary to sell equipment to him.

It's something like that.  It's the lowest (lightest) felony charge there is (class 6). The charge is for loss (or theft) is between $750 and $50,000.

This according to On3.

Yeah, given his previous criminal history, I think you'd get suspicious pretty fast after he started asking for money.

And Coyle was pushing his training BS.  My jump shot.  Send a bunch of film of your kid and money to a convicted felon who will provide feedback.  I wonder if this guy who pumped all this money into the scam started that way?

@hooky I got into a twitter spout with Coyle about a comment Leary supposedly said about our former Taco Bell All-American being the best shooter to ever play at IU - or something like that. Found the whole ordeal amusing.
