Snap chat gave me a memory today. I think we would be top ten. We need a good big in the worst way

We might be a FF team with this guy.  But yeah an elite big would help immensely.

@dbmhoosier I really think we would be unstoppable.  I don’t remember the 90s teams much but can you think of a better duo of shooters than Lamar and Tuck? Yogi Blackmon would be my second best post knight.

Edit.  Shit, robert Johnson shot 44% in 16’ too. Crean wasnt lying when he said he shot and made some threes at his time at IU when doing the marquette broadcast

Jeffries would be a nice piece for this style of play.

The game has changed so much, it's hard for me to think of a big from the 90s that would fit this style. Hondo, maybe.

Imagine Bailey, Cheney, Edwards, Whitman, Kitch, Woody, or Alford letting it fly.

@hooky Dick couldn't play a lick and had a propensity to shoot his hunting partners in the back. Bob Knight approves.

Graham , Graham , Cheaney, Bailey and Leary collectively could shoot.  I don't know what their percentages were but I have memories of swishes.
Nover was a good shooter as well just not from 3

Autocorrected.  Happens too often because I'm lazy.  Looks like it got me on Wittman too.

To bad Jay Edwards didn't play all 4 years and share the court with Cheaney.

To answer the original question... Bryant would make this team a top 10 team.  In college he was able to play inside and outside.  He rebounded and defended well out of the post.  I think he probably makes Bailey even more valuable, making him a true stretch 4, and not needing him to guard other teams bigs.  Conerway, Wilkerson, DeVries, Bailey, and Bryant... unguardable, long, athletic.  And then Alexis, Sisley, Dorn as the main bench rotation.  Enright coming in for energy periodically.

Its crazy how exciting this thought is, with the addition of just one good big man.  I argued against how crucial it was for CDD to get a true post presence for his first team.  And I think now seeing how close we could be to already being a contending team, and really only missing that one element... maybe I was wrong?  But to be fair to myself, my argument all along was that we could be good without a good big (like Bryant)...and I still believe that we are, and will be, really good.  Just not B10, FF, Natty contending good.

@iunorth Agree on Bailey. Wish we had another post to play alongside him and handle an opponent's 5. Spread the floor with the shooters and it really gives Bailey and Connerway room to maneuver in the lane.

@kkott Maybe when/if Harris gets healthy, that'll provide enough depth that he can play Bailey and Alexis together a little bit?  Bailey is actually a pretty good perimeter defender.  And his interior defense, and rebounding capabilities, likely become much more competitive against opposing 4s, instead of the best and strongest bigs we'll face.

Conerway, Wilkerson, DeVries, Bailey, Alexis.  Obviously an argument could be made for just playing Trent in that 4 spot, at that point.  But I do think Bailey is a touch better perimeter defender, rebounder, and passer than Sisley.  Sisley is a better outside shooter, for sure though.

As it stands now, Bailey and Alexis together is a little risky.  Staggering their play helps mask how thin we are, depth wise, in the post.

yes would've been my freshman year.  What a team that would've been ... Cheaney a sophomore that year
