If I remember correctly, I think people were pretty excited about adding those pieces, both for depth and longer term (if there is such a thing in this era). Neither was hurt when they got here, so obviously when the roster was constructed, there was an anticipation that they would contribute at some level. Is there reason to not discount them as we think about carryover in culture and knowing what DD wants in year 2? Them, Sisley, Ristic, Dorn...maybe Miles. I don't know if they all stay, of course.

Drake was ranked like the 505th portal prospect I don't think anyone expected much of anything from him. You need a full roster so was there really an anticipation he would contribute not everyone can play?
Harris, if healthy, could provide some depth in the post. What I was most excited about was his reported "motor" and his length. We'd be playing in the NCAA tournament if he had been healthy, and could have contributed 5-10 minutes of high motor, solid backup minutes. Depending on how much NIL would be needed to invest in him to keep him, and also depending on his health status, he'd be worth keeping around. I suspect one of the reasons he didn't ever "get healthy" though, is because he didn't want to burn his redshirt late in the year, and that'd be a sign he's transferring.
Drake... who knows? I honestly haven't watched a single highlight or any film on him. I'm not as worried about his portal ranking, as I am whether or not he's the type of guard we need. Is he physical? Can he defend? Can he create shots on his own? If he's decent in a couple of those areas, and can be gotten for "cheap", keep him.
What was the health issue keeping Harris on the bench? How is a 20 year old unable to play for an entire year? What assurance do we have that he will be healthy next year? If it's something chronic or peristent we need to cut him. We aren't here to fix broken players.
Not sure how much room there will be for Drake on next seasons roster. Three of the 13 roster spots will be taken by freshman and indications are no more than 3 players from the current roster will return next year. Not sure DeVries would save a roster spot for Drake. I am going to assume DeVries must do everything possible to build a winner for 2026-27.
Probably the same assurance we have that we'll all be alive when next season starts. Like, what kind of question is that? Are ther enow guarantees in college sports that I'm not privy to?What was the health issue keeping Harris on the bench? How is a 20 year old unable to play for an entire year? @gros-louis I think clearly, depending on what the issue is, you can make some kind of prediction. 100% accurate? No, there are always unknowns. But there are a range of issues, from something like illness that might need a few days, a sprain or strain that might need a few weeks or months of rehab, to injuries that are season-ending, and injuries that are career-ending. I'm asking, is he fully recovered from whatever kept him on the bench this season, and fully expected to be able to play without restriction?
I don't see either helping. I mean ... Harris was good at North Florida. Not so sure that translates as we've seen. And saying he looked good in PR or something of that nature isn't telling me anything. The whole team looked like nba all stars in PR.
Harris could be useful as a sub. Hard to tell from mainly old lower level clips.
Acimovic was who I was wondering about. Whether he had development potential? But just came across a clip where a analyst ripped Indiana picking him up last spring, said he wasnt P5 material. Ouch. Hope that guy was wrong.
December 16, 2025 Sports Illustrated article: At his radio show Monday night, Indiana coach Darian DeVries offered positive injury updates on Drake and Harris.
"They're both progressing," DeVries said. "When the trainers tell us they're ready, they'll be ready, but they're both getting closer and closer. So that's great to see."
As we all know, Drake and Harris were MIA for the season. After the first of the year I don't recall Don Fischer questioning DeVries about Drake or Harris. Don may have but I don't remember him doing so.

Very weird situation. I would not be shocked if both are not here next season.
The obvious upside to the Drake and Harris medical redshirts is that Indiana and they are both open and willing to playing next season for a "market discount" to prove themselves.
Thus making more cash available for whatever elite portal talent can be attracted.
It's a potential win/win.

Concerning Harris, you're again talking out your ass when you say we would be in the tourney had he been healthy. We might have missed Drake more than Harris. You don't know. Stop acting like you do.

I saw a preseason quote from Durwood Devries where he said this about the kid: "He's doing some good things for us out there". That's the last we heard about him. Wth. I don't know why the IU staffs since Sampson left have felt it necessary to be as secretive as the CIA about all things related to the basketball program. Reason # 914 why I still miss RMK.
@mushroomgod We needed one more win. All you "experts", that don't like anyone else making proclamations, gleefully came on here and ripped Bailey whenever he made a mistake. Harris playing 5-10 minutes of solid, high motor, would have replaced some of those empty Bailey minutes with something different. Its not all that much of a reach to say it would have resulted in one more win. And if it is a reach, its much less of one than all you Einstein's proclaiming "DeVries isn't the guy". GTFO here with the "talking out your ass" crap. Its all you guys do with the constant name calling and coach bashing.
