I haven't seen any mention of this... kinda surprising to me.
He served as AD during some turbulent times at IU... he had his lovers and his detractors.

I never realized he played for McCracken. His daughter was a year behind me at IU and seemed really cool. She went through A Core with one of my roommates and would show up occasionally at our parties.

Knight kicked Doninger out of practice but he returned and more or less put his foot down saying he had a right to be there.
Knight felt Doninger was allowing very bad press and internal strife to negatively affect his ability to coach.
Anyway, during the 2021 season I was standing next to Doninger at halftime of a Big Ten game. IU was down. He turned and looked at me and said "we have no guards" and he walked away. I didnt know the guy, so I guess he just wanted to vent.
Starting guards were Durham and Franklin.
Anyway, in my opinion his main legacy is as a player.
