@hoosiers94 I'm sure he will.  Summer games.  First action since his shoulder injuries.  Probably feeling more than a little bit of pressure to help everyone get acclimated to his dad's program.

3 more months of healing, practicing, team bonding, etc... he'll be a version of the guy everyone saw for his 3 years plus 8 games.

It takes a bit to get used to playing with other kids you've never played with before.  Even if you've practiced together, it still takes time to see who does what in the games, who emerges in what roles, etc.  A lot of human element type stuff is being sorted out right now.  Everything is a little off and unsure so it doesn't surprise me that shooting in particular is affected.  I think as things become clearer the shooting will improve.

@cg-paul Yep, some people can find the darkness in every silver lined cloud. It's August, of course there are things to work on. Fortunately we have Hoosiers94 to point them all out for us. Tucker DeVries, just like shooting with this team, are at the bottom of the list of concerns. It may take him awhile, and he may never get back to 100%, but he hasn't forgotten how to play or how to help his team. SuperBets strategy was to take DeVries and Wilkerson out of the game, and it was pretty effective, but  both found ways to positively impact the game in the second half and ultimately put us in position to win. Things to work on for sure, but also lots of positives.

@hoosiers94 I don’t know what your talking about.  We have given the blueprints of how to make a university completely irrelevant in basketball after being the most iconic.  Truly remarkable stuff.

oh we are on the same page Cavanagh.  And I am flat ass tired of sunshine pumpers telling me this is the year or this is the coach. I'll beleive it when they produce it.  The fact that our supposed "best shooter", Tucker shot an abysmal percentage .. in the 20 percentile area over the course of 3 games and we are supposed to shrug it off.  Yeah sorry as possible as it is he's just recovering it also just as possible the injury adversely affected him and he won't be the same.  We just don't know yet.  I'm not predicting doom I'm just embracing both sides of the equation.  Unfortunately most of us didn't get to see the team play.  Once I can do that I will be able to deduce the scheme, effort and chemistry. Suppose most of us will. But I won't take some PR statement at a podium as gospel. Because Today they all say positive things no matter what.   Eye test will tell. And wins will tell.

Really? What are the things you've posted on the positive side of the equation? Your posts have been far from equal. I think DeVries will return to being a very good shooter, maybe not to the level prior to his injury, but from teammates comments and his play in PR, it's obvious he will do the dirty work too and not allow himself to be irrelevant if he's not scoring. Tons of things to work on, just as you'd expect in August with a 100% new roster, staff and schemes. But also tons of positives: overall style of play offensively, Sisley's play, Conerway's and Enwrights perimeter D, Riksic coming in and contributing off of virtually no practice time. Appears both Alexsis and Bailey played well too. Concerning that they have started so slowly, but far more encouraging that they fought back and found ways to win both games, at this early stage. No one's asking you to be a sunshine pumper, but fair would be nice.

@hoosiers94 you are a bit more pissed than me, but about the same level.  I think it would be foolish for anyone to think this trip and practice games meant much.  I am one that doesn’t care that much about Tucker shooting poor.  Eye brow raising, but I’m not gonna put stock into it just like I won’t put stock on Trent being 60% from deep.

like you mentioned, for me, I will wait and see them for myself in real game action.  Fool me once shame on you, I’m at like the 5th fooled, but no more shame on mes!!!

@cavanagh There's nothing to be pissed about. You can't draw conclusions based on these games, but you can see the trajectory of the team. We are going to play modern basketball, our freshmen to me far outperformed expectations, our bigs I thought passed their initial tests (I was really happy to see Alexsis perform well, as it concerned me that he fell out of UFs rotation), and Conerway and Enwright were disruptive on the ball. Remember how long (as in never?) it took Archie's team to defend well? These guys seem to be getting both the offense and defenses. And, despite getting down, they showed some grit to come back in both games. It's a snapshot in time, but I think it appears the team is progressing well for August with new players, staff and systems.

Thanks for putting this together - I think Lamar is a guy IU's been looking for for some time. He is gonna be a dude this year. Conerway too.
