Yes......gotta squeeze that last $ from the golden goose....
@tjinman1987 That's the bulk of it... whether any of us will admit it, or not. When "we" discuss, think about, choose to watch, etc... really anything college basketball related, its through the lens of IU basketball.
I do think basketball does highlight all the new dynamics, more so than football does. Less players, larger percentages of teams leaving every year, more opportunity for non elite players to make money... So its not ALL that IU bball is lousy lately. But as you pointed out, the dynamics at play hit very differently when you're restocking with Michigan, Duke, UConn like rosters every year, and winning like they are.
Go beat Kentucky. Then go contend for the B10 championship. The fans, and the interest, will storm back. I missed half the games live last year... but I'm also typing away on June 30th on the bball message board, and I've barely looked at the football board of late.........
We were better off having Kentucky off the schedule unless & until we got the program fixed.
We have a nice little team. They have a serious roster. I don't think the game will be competitive.

I guess the proper question is how many points do you need?
For me, baseball is similar to the NCAA tourney. I used to know when the playoffs started and wouldn't miss a pitch! Now, it's like 'who cares about the wildcard rounds...' I'll tune in for the championship round right before the world series. But now it's easy to no longer feel invested since I'm not pumped about the earliest games. I doubt I'll get jazzed about the first round of the NCAA now either. Then they won't have me as dedicated as I used to be, because of the 'who cares about the first round' will permeate on through until later.

Saw on another site that Mike Schuman of the DH says that CD told him that they "were intentional" about leaving a spot open and that "an addition could still be made". The post was made today.
Now....stop reading if you don't like rumors........an internet rumor from a poster some say has been reliable in the past associates Keyshawn Hall with IU. Hall is one of a group of 4 year players who were granted a preliminary injunction in Ohio which, if it stuck, would provide him a 5th year. Hall is 6'7" and 250 lbs and averaged 19.3 pts & 7.1 rebs last year, and is a good outside shooter. Hall has already played for 4 schools in his college career.
Others on the site were speculating that Alexis could be added. I don't know why he would be eligible, but I don't know why Hall would be eligible either.
@mushroomgod Sam Alexis would be an awesome addition and I think he would fit perfectly as the "third big". Keyshawn Hall...is talented. I think there are real questions about his ability to play as part of a coherent team but if DeVries took him, it would be his responsibility to figure that part out. On the "why are they eligible" part, the short answer is because the NCAA has thus far been unable to enforce any rules, even one as straightforward as "five for five" and no 2026 seniors get grandfathered in. Now, it's just an injunction and another judge could overturn that ruling. The NCAA has asked for an expedited appeal and the general consensus as of now is that players like Hall and Alexis will ultimately be deemed ineligible for the 2026-2027 season. We'll see how that plays out but having that 13th spot open might prove to be a boon for IU.
