I think other programs have already hired similar kinds of positions and/or general manager types so I think this follows along with the general trends.
It's a sign the University knows they need to invest more into the program in order to be successful... get DD the resources ... hopefully he can make good on them

Full IU release here.
It's huge. Expect a much better roster next season.
Carr's position is not a unique one and somewhat interesting it took IU nearly a year to fill it after the DeVries hiring. The Hoosiers will have a former IU basketball manager on its staff. Hope Carr works out and can help build the roster.
Is this what Thad Matta was to Woodson? Or something different?
I love this. Need a leader that understands roster building and managing salaries/nil contracts. Good move imho from a guy who knows nothing. 😂
Well unlike Woodson who ignored Matta an Fife maybe DD will listen to this guy.
Is this what Thad Matta was to Woodson? Or something different?
No, not even close. Matta would have been an advisor to assist in learning the college game since he hired a 65 year old with 0 collegiate experience.
Woodson thought Matta was better served in an office on the opposite side of the building so that he'd never have to see his face. So it was a wasted role in the end.
@surjay Well one legit advantage Woodson brought to recruiting was his NBA connections. Hopefully this will help get more NBA calibre players interested in IU offers.
LOL , I was heading for this thread to say that. About coach listening instead of the Matta- Woodson deal. 🤣
It should help! And the description of his personality may reduce complaints about CDD needed to be more charismatic. I hope the position was Coach's call or at least he is enthusiastically on board.@surjay Well one legit advantage Woodson brought to recruiting was his NBA connections. It seems like this is exactly the thing that should have Coach's face plastered with a huge "QUOTE" announcement from him. Put his stamp on it for recruits. Instead we get an 'announced' but he doesn't say anything, or there is no actual quote in these articles from CDD? Should be gushing publicly how Indiana is going to be at the forefront to win big, and to put guys in the league!
Smart. I think it's an indicator that DD/Dolson have recognized that there are problems with roster construction and that they'll need more complete roster construction and some elite talent to be at the top of the BIG.
