If you get that in three years it'll be from someone as dumb as someone saying his tenure is a failure after 3+ months.
Great point if I had actually said that. My opinion is and has been that he's not the guy. I'm sorry that hurts your feelings, but it's just an opinion that has zero impact on results. Just like you fawning over DD has no impact.
I do appreciate the insult, though. Please don't tell anyone about my dumb PhD; I don't want people to find out I'm such a moron.
Roster last year. There are may here who want to give the excuse for DD that he needs time , he had to rebuild the whole roster.
Dusty May brought in 10 players from the portal last year. Michigan was not stocked with talent. He kept 3 players. The only one who played and time was Will Tschetter. And his time wasn't much. DD brought Tucker who you could say was on the "roster " so to speak .. he knew the system . So was CE having played for DD for a couple of years. So in essence we are done 1 less player of familiarity. May brought 1 player with him from FAU... Vald Goldin. That's it. Proof it can be done with a rather complete roster reconstruction. Only we need more time.
Well, the season isn't over yet. We're essentially right in the ballpark with Kelsey/Pope/May last year with May being the clear best of the 3.
Also, you may want to act like its an excuse but the portal/nil/rev-share was dramatically different this year compared to last. Thats not debatable.
yet May is winning with 6 new players.
and you're right the season isn't over but we will not tie for 2nd in the Big Ten so we've missed that one. I would say in the long shot event we should win the Big Ten Tounry and end up a 5 seed somehow and make it to the S16 then perhaps we could quell some of this talk. Big IFs. Do you see that happening?

There's a better chance we all get anal probed by an alien--twice--than that scenario playing out.

Its irrelevant. We didn't hire DDV over Dusty May last year. That ship sailed. All we can do is compare against him and the other 2 guys who took over major programs with resources. Right now, DDV is not dramatically behind where the 3 were at this point in year 1. May clearly stood out comparitively, but Pope was 8-7 and Kelsey was playing in a super weak ACC so harder to gauge but he ended up a 9 seed and bounced first round. All 3 of them used the first year as a springboard into year 2 and all had recruiting success and increased enthusiasm.
We started a year late and shot ourselves and any coach we would have hired in the foot right off the bat, but if he still finishes anywhere close to those 3 under worse circumstances then I don't think its insane to be willing to see what he does in year 2.
its not a crazy stance at all. There's a huge difference between not thinking you should fire a coach 10 games into his first season and saying that the only expectation is just to be a bubble team EVERY year. its a ludicrous strawman.
May is gone, of course I would have hired him 2 years ago like we should. We didn't and we're feeling the repercussions of that but some are just ok with actually seeing how this year finishes and how the portal goes this summer. Has nothing to do with being content with mediocrity or any other nonsense strawmen.
Who would have done these things you're now using as the barometer for year 1 success? And would they have done so this season, with the very different NIL, rev share, dynamics at play? If so, why?
Moreover, I find it interesting some folks downplay May's accomplishments. It's okay to admit Michigan landed an excellent coach who IU could have had.
Yes, we can admit could have had, but do we have to discuss it daily? What does that have to do with anything now?
Besides, you know we easily could have decided May did not have enough experience and blown that hire.
On this forum, it's quite evident who accepts mediocrity ... and who does not. (Cue the "he's better than Woody" comments.)
Well, whoever is stumping against the existing coach before the first season is even near to being in the books sure is accepting mediocrity. Because that's the cycle we'll stay in if we dump him. And if not it just is more negative fan talk against the team that would surprise me if it helps attract players.

IU has been making shit hires for 25 years and missing out on great coaches. They should have hired Pitino in 2001, or Beilein in 2006, or Underwood in 2017, or Dusty in 2024. But they didn’t because ineptitude defines this university. I am still trying to understand how they got the Cignetti hire right.
at least your attempt at humor is thinking outside the box. I like it.
We'll be reading the same stuff in three years: Each Portal has been weak, DD can't be expected to win in his first few seasons, yada yada yada.

I sure love your stupidity on this forum. Isn't worth it without you here.

I'm starting to think you've got some sort of deal going with Sammy where you get paid by the post and it's double when you post the same thing over and over and over.
It's literally Groundhog Day with you and your boy GThomas. You just regurgitate the same shit every day, many times a day. Go adopt a puppy or find a hobby or volunteer somewhere. You gotta find something new to do other than spewing the same damn stuff every damned day.

this is the point to it all... why should we trust these inept people to continue to make these decisions. Dolson found a genie in a lamp with Cignetti. He's no expert on any sort of hiring

I think you work for DD... equalizing the airwaves ... good luck. He'll be gone soon and I'll still be here
There will still be room on the bandwagon next year, and maybe still in year three.
you must be referring to a DD bandwagon. Maybe so... but make no mistake I'm always on the Hoosier wagon. That's why I'm disgruntled with where we are.
