@redandrowdy I think banking on, or even hoping, that the team will change in as many was, at this point in the season, as what you listed is probably not a great idea. Its not likely to happen. I would contend though, that those various things you mention don't need to happen for them to produce some fun, and exciting times over the next few weeks.
They don't need to completely change who they've been to win at OSU. They just need to do what they've shown they can do well, more consistently, for longer stretches of the game. Beating OSU to finish the regular season would be fun, and exciting, no?
BTT... first round game against someone like Penn State or Rutgers... seeing them play decent and thump someone in Chicago, would feel good. But it wouldn't really move the needle much. But if they were to continue the solid play, and beat the 7 seed UCLA, Iowa maybe... that would be pretty cool and exciting. And then if they play decent and compete with whoever the 2 seed is... that'd be fun.
If enough of the above things happen to get them in to the NCAA tournament, they'll likely be facing either a 6 or 7 seed. The list of those teams, according to today's Lunardi bracket, are as follows (Kentucky, Vanderbilty, St Marys, Miami FL, Louisville, Wisconsin, Villanova, BYU). There are some winnable games in there, and some really fun matchups. And then obviously, if they were able to win that first round game... the potential 2nd round matchups would be a lot of fun.
Quite obviously... we could lose to OSU, and play poorly in the BTT, and all of the above is moot.
Just saying that despite the inconsistencies, and how we've looked thus far this year, there are still some potentially fun things to watch... for me anyways. Obviously no issues with your views too! But man, no matter how it happens, for me, an NCAA tournament that has IU in it is quite a lot more interesting and exciting than one that doesn't.
no offense but you're putting an awful lot of hope into something that's hopeless. There's no way we string together 4-5-6 games in a row like that. This team is incapable of that, and thinking otherwise is absurd. Really. No chance we get on a run like that against competition like that.
