@mobilehoosier You mean he’ll actually show up with a pulse?
I'm banking on it. He knows he has to work hard. I like that.
Well played.
@gthomas do you really think the dudes DD went after cost IU 10m? NFW- the couple guys he did look into that were reportedly asking for bags we seemed to pass on.
jist bc IU had 10m does not mean that much was spent- im gonna bet this roster was around 5-7 mil and that’s what woody spent on 4-5 guys
Yes, it cost around 10 million. Thats just how it is right now.
You cannot compare previous years to now with Rev Share in play. The going rate for players shot up tremendously last year.
There is a difference in passing on guys who appeared to only want a bag. DDV had no problems paying big money for guys who wanted a bag AND he felt like was a good fit, potential teammate and wanted to be a part of his vision.

If this is what 10M in NIL plus rev share gets us, how do we improve things? My understanding is that we're among the top in NIL already. I tend to lean more towards @ge-off 's way of thinking about the NIL payroll for this team.

@ge-off That's a good question. If Goode returns, that would be an average of about $770k per player to reach $10M. I have no idea about the going rate for NIL, so you might very well be correct.
I just saw that a player from South Dakota State named Oscar Cluff (now at Purdue) is valued at $1.7M. If some guy named Cluff is worth that, then perhaps IU is near $10M. DeVries reportedly made $1M last season, so I'm sure it's much higher this season.
In any case, I don't care if IU's payroll or $10M or $10 ... just win.

We need to stabilize things with HS recruiting and having a base each year where we are augmenting from the portal and not needing to grab 13 guys. That'll come in the next year or 2.
We also need to start winning, obviously.
We had a top 5/6 NIL under Woodson but thats been strained now that rev share has kicked in 2-3 million to most schools. Also, the BigEast schools don't have football so they get bigger chunks of rev share.
We still have very good resources, more than enough to contend at a high level but Bigfoot Woodson squandered the huge advantage he had with mediocrity and mismanagement.
DDV is going about things differently, so hopefully this time it works out and we don't have to solely rely on top 5 resources to compensate for top 400 coaching.
I think due to our lack of height we will struggle. And when it matters we will likely lose that battle on the boards.
What is the source for IU's NIL budget? I've tried to find something placing us in the Top 10 or so of NIL but have had no luck.
Pace and space fellas. Modern basketball. Things are changing with this staff. We’ll be fine.

You won't find anything too official but there are countless articles about it. Also, any IU/basketball insider will tell you the same.
Here's one example from SI: IU in 10 million dollar club

Me. I'm the source. Do NOT doubt me again. Because if you do, straight to the ignore list.
