Well, good news, Bob. Michigan can only take 3 players, it appears, so even if they get the 3 best out of the portal or the best at every position of need, there's still a lot to go around. That was clearly not true. There is no point in getting a new coach if they won’t have the resources to succeed.
Money is huge but so is winning. Dusty won 27 games his first year that made getting his portal class much easier I am guessing. If you have have to sell is money be prepared to outbid.
We aren't beating out Mich for any recruits. Now or in the future. Thats just how things are. We wont hire anybody that will change that, either.
No Michigan is going to get who they want for the most part unless they lose out to a Duke or Kansas. Like you said it just is what it is. I see people dreaming about Aiden Sherrell but that would require beating all the big boys and likely outbidding every one of them. I think the odds on him are pretty low imo.

It all depends where they are ranked the top players are moving quickly at least making lists or narrowing them. So laugh all you want but in you want guys in on top 40 guys you need to be in on them like yesterday. But sure if you want lower ranked guys there is still plenty of time.

The top dudes all sign pretty quick the guys left in June are like Dallas James. Whether some want to believe that or not they can go look at how it played out the last few years.

it's not all about money. it's about fit, development AND money. the money has to be comparable or the kid ain't coming.

If you mean Darren Harris, I don't have affection for him. I wrote a month ago that I thought he was likely to portal and that IU had a connection and he'd be an option. I was right. There are reasons to like Harris (high school pedigree, was at least a small part of the rotation on a really good team, shot well from three when given consistent minutes). I would have others higher on my "wish list" but I think Harris could be part of a decent group of guards at IU if they landed him.
Harris. Don't like him as a projected starter, as I just see mediocrity. 30.8% career on 3s (33.3% this year); 48.8 on 2s (45.5% this year); 3.4 rebounds every 40M this year; so...mediocre scorer & rebounder. Also, mediocre totals on assists. OTOH, he did shoot 76.9% on FTs this year and he doesn't turn the ball over. I remember seeing a post about him that indicated he was an early bloomer in HS and just hasn't developed. Does something like that seem more likely than the Duke coaching staff just not developing his abilities? So.......ok, as a potential 6th or 7th man, but not ok as a projected starter. Also....he seems very much to be a lesser version of Mustaf, doesn't he? Same size, same role? And there a million wings out there. a lot with better credentials. To me, he is a settle. 2 years is no advantage, as hopefully we have better wings coming in. One good thing about him tho---Burton likes him. If he helps us get Burton, he's worth taking.
I do like Mustaf. Definite starter for us if we get him, and probably pretty significantly underrated at 87 on the 247 rankings.

I don't want to get anyone's hopes up but Jeff Goodman wrote in his subscriber newsletter (credit to Jeff Goodman...or blame to Jeff Goodman!) that IU "looks like the frontrunner to land Alabama transfer Aiden Sherrell." He also wrote that LSU was in the mix but his source would be surprised if Sherrell went anywhere other than IU.
I mean, that would be a massive, massive get for Indiana. I'm confident IU ends up with Markus Burton (I just don't think he wants to go as far away from home as Houston and I think IU will pay enough to land him). I'm reasonably optimistic that Jalen Haralson is kind of out of realistic landing spots and might end up at IU (awesome if so!). Landing Sherrell would just be a huge surprise but it would be awesome.

I just saw it while browsing btwon banners because they always post this stuff. Some of them are running with this one hard but they were also convinced we had bran stevens in the bag last year. You have to take anyone online with a grain of salt these days the amount of clickbait is insane and likely sometimes used by the agent for a bidding war imo.

I would like to see DeVries fill only 12 roster spots (7 from the portal, the 3 freshmen, Sisley & Acimovic) as this would give him more money to spend on quality instead of more quantity. I'm assuming he's going to get something out of these freshmen as contributors in their initial year.

The general take on Field of 68 is they’re outlets for favored agents. They legit have good sources but sources with a business angle. They like to run pass blocking for connected agents (ie, agencies that rep high end recruits and coaches). So sometimes they’re willing to put things out to drive pay raises and more NIL dollars.
