J.P. Estrella to Michigan. IU had Sherrell (Alabama), Fru (Louisville) and Estrella (Tennessee) rumored to be on the top line for big guys. Estrella is now off the board. Honestly, I have no idea what IU is up to right now and no one else does either. The resources are there and the only thing we know for sure is that Markus Burton is scheduled to visit campus from Sunday to Tuesday.

The same  thing happened last year we were linked to some big names and got our hopes up and they ended up picking someone else. The fact of the matter is while money does matter alot many of these guys also want to go to a school who has been winning. A school like Michigan can pretty much pick and choose who it wants right now and they are probably pretty hard to outbid also if not impossible.

@ge-off Rowan Brumbaugh is the name you are searching for. J.P. Estrella is a difference-maker. I don't think there's any debating that.

well,  I was w you on Estrella - but he is now off the board   I think IU is in trouble as far as getting pieces to improve on last yr   May get a couple guards, but bigs not looking good

The really good bigs seem way harder to get than guards. And it sounds like they all cost 4 or 5 million. So not only will you have to outbid the big name programs  you have to convince them to pick IU over a school that has been having success. I assume we will get a couple good or decent guards but bigs not so sure.

Going to Michigan is the right move by Estrella. Dusty has plenty going for him. He has done a great job of developing big men and he's a winner.

I was hopeful for Estrella. I doubt he got something in the $4M to $5M range. There are still a bunch of good bigs in the portal. And a lot of other good players as well. If we are still looking at no meaningful signings after another week, I’ll be more concerned. In the meantime, I doubt that one of the top point guards in the portal would be coming for a weekend visit if he wasn’t feeling like other good players will be signed. Carr has been an NBA guy where teams keep a lid on their draft plans. Despite a prying press corps, the Pacers have always been tight lipped about their draft and trade plans. I expect Carr has emphasized keeping a tight circle. I’m not going to stress about it yet.

Maybe not to go to Michigan he maybe took less to go to a winner. Michigan can pick and choose right now.  But a team who is desperate for a big and has not been winning will have to overpay. I saw it listed the top 25 big men would likely get 4-5 million and I am pretty sure that is what we will have to pay if we want one of the top big men.

Here's what 247 transfer portal thinks about some of the guys who've been mentioned here: 6. J. Harris, 6-7; 10.  S. Sherrell, 6-10;  13. S. Vaaks, 6-7; 21. JP Estrella, 6-11 to Michigan; 22.  M. Burton, 5-11;  23. J. Haralson, 6-7; 36.  S. Fru, 6-11; 48.  F. Bizjack, 6-4; 56.  F. Dilione, 6-4;  63. D, Goode, 6-8;  65.  C. Garland, 6-1;  74.  R. Brumbaugh, 6-4;  87.  J. Mustaf, 6-5; 92.  S. Orme, 6-8;  102.  R. Allenspach, 6-11;  107.  T. Singleton, 6-8;  111  A. Glass, 6-3;   150.  J. Fiegen, 6-4;  154.  J. Cov, 6-3;  155.  M. Cooper, 6-3

Don't see rankings for D. Harris, D. Olson, and Bud Clark.  Clark might be too new to list as yet.  One guy I wanted IU to look at was #106 6-10 Oswin Erhunwunse from Providence.  He has committed to Creighton.  Another guy I'd like for us to look at is Aleksas Bieliauskas 6-10, #60 from Wisconsin.

@hoosiers94 I'm not jaded or bothered at all. I even wrote at the bottom of the post that you are welcome to feel how you'd like to feel, others can do the same. This discourse isn't productive for either of us so I'll leave it here: thank you for being on the site and participating on the thread, I hope you have a great day!

sure ok. Seemed passive aggressive to me. But I digress.  What's plan b.

Names mentioned on BTBs....guards...Jalen Cox of Colgate; Ace Glass of Wash. St; Also, Christian Fermin of VCU.  Not sure what he is, but not highly regarded.

Also, Darren Harris is following Burton on social media....only problem there....Darren Glass' stats are exceedingly mediocre.  Do not understand TJ's affection for him.

those guys weren't "mentioned on BTB"...they are from sam keyser posting who agents are saying had contact with a player on twitter. iu's been mentioned by him with a ton of players, including a number in the top 10. now, that could me all kinds of stuff from an agent reaching out to a team to the other way around or even a quick zoom to see if there is mutual interest. getting bent out of shape from people doing, what looks to me, like due diligence seems premature.

but estrella was a clear miss. that said, i am not sure paying 3-3.5m for jp estrella would be something i'd be into either...no wonder the kid didn't even visit michigan.

i like harris too. he was the #40 overall recruit by 247 and got stuck behind pros at duke. i consider a kid like him to be a distressed asset. he doesn't really have a track record but does have a pedigree. if you can get a discount on him then perhaps you can overpay for someone else.

can't money ball this...iu's going to have to pay up. if they don't, this failure will be their own doing.

As I said earlier if we try to be frugal and cheapskates this year we will shit the bed again. Man up and pay the boys to get this ship turned around.

Duke transfer Darren Harris (Kenny Johnson connection that was mentioned very early in this thread) has scheduled an IU visit for April 11. He is also visiting Virginia and reportedly has calls scheduled with Florida and Vanderbilt. I'd think this would be a winnable recruitment for Indiana. He has two years left and was the 8th/9th man for the Blue Devils this past season. The hope would be that with a bigger role and more minutes, he'd flourish as a good two-way wing.

In addition, Aiden Sherrell is now officially in the portal. He has a "Do Not Contact" tag and IU assistant Thomas Carr is connected with him. Sherrell would be a massive get. Would I get my hopes up just yet? Absolutely not. He'll be extremely coveted.

Dominoes are starting to fall and we're going to see if the IU staff has a plan that will put the squad in a position to succeed next season or if we will be firing up a Hot Board less than a year from now.

DeVries specifically said one of the reasons he took the IU job was because he would have the resources to win. That was clearly not true. There is no point in getting a new coach if they won’t have the resources to succeed.

Most of the players are looking for more than a big payday. These guys would like to win and Indiana hasn't done much in that area. Certainly helps to have a coach who is recognized as one of the best in the profession and someone who has a record of sending players on into the pro ranks.

DeVries and company have a tough sell. Will be interesting to see what sort of team he can build.

Several schools are already in the mix for Alabama transfer Aiden Sherrell with one blue blood expected to see him over this weekend.

Sam Orme off the board- o know he wasn’t a big target, but if IU has to go lesser talent, he may have been a guy

Orme headed to Nebraska
