@sig You are referring to Diop. He is tied to an assistant coach (Irvin). If you've heard of Mac Irvin Fire, an AAU program in Chicago, the coach is a member of that family. If you want Diop, you'll apparently need to hire Irvin and likely plop down a gigantic bag of NIL money (I'd imagine the bidding starts at $5 million...whatever it is, it will be sky high).
Thanks for that. Maybe they should throw down 5 mil on a couple of impact starters. Not sure how it impacts rest of team or what is promised to HS recruits. Yeh I knew it was Diop and didn't mention his name for some silly reason that I don't even know except for being old. LOL.
Well if Irvin is on the market too then maybe having ties to a chicago AAU program, though i know nothing about it, is a good thing. Sounds like to many variables though but they have to make a breakthrough somewhere in this portal for next year.

the Chicago AAU market is messy to put it kindly. Lots of grifting or quid pro quo type of stuff. I'm sure they're not alone in that regard but seems like someone is always on the take. So slippery slope.
S16-level money, NIT-level coach. I don't expect anything special next season, regardless of the roster. I'd love to be as wrong as wrong can be, but I just don't see it. Others do ... and I hope those people are spot-on.
I do not see it either but with that kind of money just slipping into the tourney as like the last four in would not be a success no matter how some would try to spin it. Most everyone on here agreed by the second season he should be challenging for a sweet sixeteen. If he is not then he is not meeting expectations but my guess is after this year just barely making the tourney will be considered a great leap forward.
agreed to me if we aren't in S16 especially with that money ... no bueno Move in
for the love of god, can we keep this about the portal.
this seems like one to watch from an iu perspective (as @tjinman1987 has pointed out from the jump).

@iureactionary How was he 3rd team with those numbers? Dang! Without knowing a single thing about him, that alone is a mild red flag?!
Again, this is the portal thread...if you want to complain about Dolson or the coach or anything else, start a new thread or I can start a new one for you

i don't know a ton about him other than his torvik stuff.
not a good defender, probably limited by his size but a 4.4 bpm (box score plus / minus) isn't bad.
might be a spark plug off the bench guard but 86% ft shooter and 37% 3pt on around 3 attempts per game is nice and he scored 21 and 22 on efficient shooting against utah and michigan state.
the mwc also isn't a terrible conference.
he'd be a good piece.
relax
you're free to be the debbie downer snl skit in every single other thread but this one.
edit: i want to come to this thread for portal stuff, as i've said now multiple times.
@iureaction Garland played his freshmen year at Drake for DeVries. He played for one of the worst teams of 2025-26. San Jose State was 9-24 with a 266 RPI and finished 11th out of the 12 team Mountain West Conference. Garland is not a Big 10 starter but perhaps a guy that could help as a back-up point guard. Not my money but if were to allocate budget dollars he'd rank last in pay among the guys IU will have coming out of the April portal.
Cranky posters today. Geesh.
Portal. (Had to mention it to meet the requirement for this thread.)
I didn't start it. You're now gonna bully everyone on the playground. You need help. You know sometimes you collapse your browser and come back later and someone has made post, you reply. Now if I'm going to have to tiptoe around your feelings all the time ... you sound like a teenage girl. We had a blip. Relax
