There are examples to prove really anyones argument on whether a coach should be able to win immediately, or not... and if their early results are a sign for how they'll always be.

Maybe we have the next Mike Krzyzewski who did well at the lower level Army but not amazing, and then took four years to get rolling at Duke. 😀

I can't remember exactly what he said, but it was something to the effect of he knew he'd win at least 8 or 9 games right off the bat, and that was a big reason he took the job.

Said he went through our schedule and told his wife 'There's 10 wins here.' He made it sound like Dolson's next call was that same evening shortly after.

He only got 11 wins, so he didn't really exceed expectations by much. 🤣

@dbmhoosier Gotta be something off with him.  His size, skill, all of it... if he had his head on straight, he'd have been in the NBA long ago.  Basketball wise, he's a difference maker.  And many of us, myself included, are regularly on here gnashing our teeth about the lack of length and athleticism up front.  He's not a center, but he is a very versatile, long, skilled, athlete that is good enough that he'd instantly be one of our better players, and would improve an area of need, basketball wise.  But I sure hope that CDD isn't the type of coach that would jeopardize the locker room... if he's even close to as bad a teammate as past programs say he is.  And obviously its pretty unlikely he gets another year, unless I'm behind on something.

But damn... he's really good.  Ha ha.

I looked through the other IU site where this is being discussed, and there's still smoke about this; my feel for it is that its more likely the player or his coach trying to get IU involved than the other way around.

What I don't understand is why Hall is any different than Bailey or Alexis.  All 3 started in '22-23, all 3 played 4 consecutive years.  The fewest Hall played in was 18 his freshman year; Alexis played in 11 his freshman year.  Isn't the NCAA likely just to cave on this and let everyone who started that year have an extra year?  Is this what IU has in mind?  If he's willing, I don't understand why IU hasn't gotten him involved in one of the lawsuits.....I would be excited about his addition to the roster.

@mushroomgod No clue?  Hall is on a completely different level than either Alexis or Bailey, though.  That obviously shouldn't matter...probably doesn't legally...other than maybe his potential NIL valuation means he'll have better lawyers??  But hypothetically if he's told IU, I'm coming to IU if I'm given a 5th year... that hits different than Bailey or Alexis battling for another year.  Character issues aside, Hall is a first team all B10 level player... if there's a chance his case could be heard and he could win, and if DeVries thinks he can control him, he's a needle mover.

Its obviously all probably a moot point.  If Hall were to get a 5th year, the flood gates would almost have to open up.  Unless there are unique circumstances involved that I haven't read or heard about.  Stranger rulings have come down from courts and the NCAA though.

I would certainly be surprised if IU actively recruited Hall.  Risky and just seems out of character for DeVries.  I do think it would be a game-changer, but more likely a negative rather than positive one given people's comments about the guy.  I don't see any negative about Alexis being a part of the team.

Yeah, looks like I and others were wrong on Alexis. Maybe DeVries was not trying to tip his hand. I'll just let the news happen instead guessing again.

Wow. So temporary relief...

Will we have to vacate our Big Ten title if the players lose later and are declared ineligible?

(Assuming we succeed in signing Alexis.)

@openwheel The entire 2022 HS class is now eligible with a ruling from a Colorado court. In all sports.

@thehoosierhuddle this sh*t is getting wilder by the day. Football team could add a few linemen.

@d-b-cooper in theory yes, but camp opens in three days. Other schools have started camp.

This is an absolute mess.

Is it too early to bump my Stephen Daly wrecking souls for IU in '26 thread?

So so crazy.

Love ya NCAA!

What about guys like Braden Smith that were “forced” to take a huge pay cut versus what they would have gotten from their 5th year?  Really any senior that was playing high major basketball, that wasn’t in the top 25 or so in the draft, likely took a hit pay wise, for the next year.

Sam Alexis isn’t as good as Keyshawn Hall…but I suspect he’s about as good a fit as we could hope for, from this new pool of players.
