Our roster is $10M and which is #10-20 in the country.  Needing to get a whole new team in the portal wasn’t ideal, but we really should make the tourney with our roster spend and very expensive staff.

I mean, it’s not that hard, Woody almost made it and he as we know was absolutely awful.

@tammany He would have made it pretty easily last year, at WVU, had DeVries, and Stone, been healthy more of the year.  As it was, without them, he still probably deserved to make it.  I think it would be a very unpleasant surprise if this IU team doesn't make the tourney.  Despite the preseason bracketologists largely thinking we're a bubble team.

Never know until the games start, though.  And then a couple injuries could change that narrative dramatically.

@thehoosierhuddle as long as the 3s are falling

While I regarded God as a tyrant I thought my sin a trifle; But when I knew Him to be my Father, then I mourned that I could ever have kicked against Him. When I thought God was hard, I found it easy to sin; but when I found God so kind, so good, so overflowing with compassion, I smote upon my breast to think that I could ever have rebelled against One who loved me so, and sought my good.” C. H. Spurgeon

@doggy1 He's doing pretty good up north.

@iunorth Yep, I hate the way our expectations have been lowered. I remember when making the tournament was lowered expectations! Here's to hoping we return to that one day!

I’m of the opinion that this team could (for once in the recent era) do much better than the bar being set by expectations.  I, however, am not sure if that will translate into much excitement from me.

perhaps it has just been too long?   I’m meh, and I’m not sure that winning will solve much, as many people like to opine.

perhaps that will change, and of course this is just my feelings.  I certainly am not suggesting that I am reflective on how anyone else may feel.

I'm kinda here.  I really just don't enjoy college basketball in general as much as I used to.

I think even as much as Cignetti turned over the football team, I think long term there will be more multi year Hoosiers to root for in football than in basketball. It just takes longer to get big and strong. But maybe as a percentage it'll be similar for basketball.

I suspect that will be part of whether I care much for the sport or not, if it has Indiana Hoosiers on the teams or mostly mercenaries. I can get invested and root for someone here for just a year though. But I'm sure I have more interest in following the multi year kids. College kids, not G-league adult men.

@unclemark Archie, on paper, was a good hire. It turned out he wasn't a good fit at IU. Then the Woodson hire was just baffling.

Yep.  The Archie hire didn't need to be justified.  Made a lot of sense.  Massive failure, but I understood the hire.  Woodson was a ridiculously awful hire.  It was never going to work out.  Ever. Lazy and unlikeable was just an added bonus.

It’ll be a more fun brand of basketball to watch.

Indeed.  Ball movement and shooting have been impressive.  103 FG. With 73 assists is an amazing stat.  Especially considering how this team was assembled.  There shouldn’t be many scoring droughts this season.  Gotta keep up the unselfishness.

Woody's teams were in black and white. This team is in 8K by comparison.

Link something showing how much each is getting from NIL, please. I can’t find it anywhere. I like this team but if they’re getting $10 million total someone is being vastly overpaid.
