Less than 4,000. I don’t know if it was because the Colts were also playing or just lack of interest in general, but it sure wasn’t worth paying the rent at Gainbridge.
Tickets were way overpriced for an exhibition.
I can't remember the exact prices now, but it was $44 for the upper deck, $65 for midlevel, and lower level was $65 baseline higher rows and $100+ for close to court and sideline. It was a rip off. Plus people have to pay for parking with a Colts crowd in town, so that was extra pricey.
They should have priced this at $20 for good sideline tickets and $10 for the rest with kids getting in free. It's an exhibition.
Doesn't really matter though. This game wasn't going to make or lose any material amount of money. It was about getting some reps in an NBA arena vs. a good team.
I think they probably priced them right if they wanted to maximize revenue. Only diehards are going to go to an exhibition in Indy, even if tickets were free. Would they have had double at half the price? Doubt it. Triple at one third the price? Doubt it.
Now, if Indiana wanted to subsidize for marketing reasons, that's another thing. Crowd sounded real good over the radio, when Indiana made a run to get back in it. So the players heard it.
Got to think bigger than rev maximization for some scrimmage. After a very bad 10 year stretch, IUBB should be focused on getting fans engaged and interested again, which leads them to spend money on IUBB.
And IUBB has been doing that overall since CDD got here, I just think they messed up the tickets for this Baylor game.
I just think it's quite clear they weren't looking at anything other than recouping some costs. With those prices for an exhibition game.
Yeah, they probably should have considered other factors.
Agree on their motives.

You've heard of the "Cig Effect" getting coaches like Franklin & Brian K. axed? I think that's also had an effect on IU basketball fans......See Cav's posts about being jaded after the Woodson era. They are plenty who are down on the program over the history of the last 25 years. IU football is a feel good alternative right now......
I just don't enjoy college basketball much any longer, so I'm not forking over $100+ for me and my wife or son to go see an exhibition game. I've already got my season tickets...and 1/3 of those are on SeatGeek already.
I wouldn't have gone if it were free, if I'm being honest.
I rounded up some family/friends to grab a suite at Memorial Stadium last year. Renewed this year and almost certainly will next unless they completely price us out. It's been an amazing thing to watch develop. That said, I'm so invested at this point, I kinda forgot about the exhibition game with Baylor. When I saw a photo of the crowd and heard about prices, I just had to shake my head. Poor effort from IU Athletic Dept on virtually every front.
Seems to me they aren't real sure how to be a big-time outfit yet. There are things that routinely fall thru the cracks with the football experience and it's clear basketball is off to a rough start. Success these days comes with a heavy cost. Fans will only pay that extra burden if we think we are getting value. I hope the folks in charge remember that.

I will give them props on one thing.........I've been to 2 games this year....the first game the hype guy was shouting at us all afternoon.....At the MSU game, they had pretty much shut him down. I'm sure there were lots of complaints. Ant there were fewer of the dumb promotions. Overall, I thought the MSU game was a much more pleasant experience.
A also like the pregame buffalo video....good job there.
@mushroomgod Don't disagree at all. They are learning as they go. The overall experience is absolutely a great time these days. I'm nitpicking for sure, but when you are being asked to pony up for a premium gameday experience, it should be premium in every way. Usually it is. Sometimes they show their old lackadaisical selves.
I have season tickets so I generally don’t feel the need to go to games that aren’t included in the package. I’d gone to UCLA Saturday and Colts yesterday. Didn’t need to add an exhibition game to the list.
Why go to an exhibition basketball game during football season? The IU hoops Give-a-Shit Meter has fallen substantially, especially during the last four seasons ... and especially for us older folk who remember what good basketball looks like.
I'll pay attention again when IU is no longer the basketball version of Nebraska football.
MBB will have to earn attention for once. CDD seems good, I think he’ll build a good program. It will take 2 to 3 years, he inherited a disaster.
And if CDD can’t get it going? Oh well can’t say I’d care that much this point. CFB is king and CBB ain’t what it used to be.
If this was 1992 it probably would've been sold out. But it's not unfortunately. IUs completely incompetent administration put the program in the coffin and Woodson put the stake through the heart. DeVries can fix this but it will take time.
