14.5 points per game ... on average. That seems like a lot?
last year we averaged 12.8 point differential in losses.
Bottom can always be deeper. We will get to china soon the way we dig

I was told this team was supposed to be better than Bigfoots teams

Not as talented as Bigfoots teams but better coached. This team is also much more sporadic. We have no size and shoot tons of 3s. It's a win big or lose big strategy.
@hoosiers94 Ohio State, one of the many teams IU is fighting for an NCAA tourney bid, has been far more competitive in its losses. In losses by 9 or more points, the Hoosiers lead the Buckeyes, 8 to 3. When Indiana loses they get clobbered. If Indiana goes into Columbus in the final game needing a win they will be in for a major challenge.
Yeah I don't by the we win big lose big ... defense is defense. We are worse at it than last year. Plain and simple. Did we really have more talent last year ??? Not sure about that ... maybe on paper... hard to imagine :).

They just gave Sparty all they wanted and a little more and they were shorthanded.

@hooky The Buckeyes took MSU to the wire at East Lansing without two of their best players. The top 3-point shooter and second leading scorer, John Mobley didn't play nor did their leading rebounder and third leading scorer, Devin Royal. DeVries and company have to play one game at a time and can't afford to look ahead but I'm not playing so will interject. Despite the rankings and resume, the Michigan State game in Bloomington might be more winnable for IU than beating Ohio State in Columbus.
@bigmike I could easily see us losing both and getting blown out in one of them. Maybe at columbus, but at home against sparty would suck worse.

@hooky I wasn't expecting miracles during DeVries year one but anything less than an NCAA berth is a disappointment for me. if the Hoosiers lose to both MSU & OSU they may well be headed to the NIT. If it's the NIT and IU has a long run they could possibly play all their games in Indiana. Opening games in Bloomington with the semifinals taking place in Hinkle and the finals at Gainbridge on April 5. Got to then work some portal magic as this year it will only be open from April 7 - 21.
@bigmike I get that making the NCAAT at any seed or even play-in is probably better for recruiting but since we have absolutely zero chance of doing anything notable in that tournament I'd almost rather play in the NIT where maybe we could win a few games. If I had my say I'd cut the NCAAT back to 32 teams and make the NIT a bit more respectable. I know the money people would never let that happen but it would be better for the game IMO.

I agree that the tourney field should be 32. If you can't finish in the top 3 or 4 of your league, what business do you have of playing for the NC?
If you're going to have 64, why not make it 256? I was always intrigued by the prospect or including all comers like the old Indiana HS tourney...but I'd be ok with keeping 110 out.
@mushroomgod Take the end of the season top 25, fill in with conference champions who aren't top 25 teams, until you get to 32. That would be a fun tournament to watch.
