New Official Visits Locked In

IU has secured official visits from the top-ranked international center (he's currently in the 2027 class but is widely expected to reclass to 2026) and the second-ranked shooting guard in the 2026 class.

Junior County is ranked 27th nationally and is playing for Wasatch Academy in Utah. IU is in his finalists along with Arizona, UConn, Maryland and Purdue. He plans on visiting all five.

Sayon Keita is considered the best big man in the country right now, regardless of class. Keita is an extremely gifted center and he was at Kansas yesterday, will be at IU today (July 29), Kentucky and then Duke, UConn and UNC. So, this is a major heavyweight fight for the Hoosiers.

Time will tell on whether Coach DeVries is genuinely getting through to all these highly rated kids, or if IU's NIL capacities make them popular leverage pieces for "lists".  Maybe a little bit of both, right now.  Hopefully CDD can pick off a couple of these guys a year for the next few years.  And if so, hopefully he gets the right ones!

The chatter is IU is the favorite to land Latrell Almond, a top 40 recruit.

@iugradman Has he visited yet?  I'm with TJ on this point...in most cases, until visits are scheduled, not a lot of reason to get overly excited about singular recruits.  Being on so many final lists is reason for optimism.  But outside foreign recruits, and then maybe portal kids in the spring, nearly all of commits will visit their school at least once, if not multiple times, before choosing them.

@iugradman almond is an underrated/undervalued recruit too. Kid might be closer to a 5*.
