Had a Purdue offer. Sounds like a good get.

Class of '29? I hope I live to see it.
Won't be Damon-Bailey-in-8th-grade level of attention, but it's always good to get buzz. Looked up his stats, 21 per game as a Frosh, even small school that's something. Richie Farmer level. The snowball is rolling down hill!
Edit: Damn... Never watched highlights of a kid from before his sophomore year and thought 'I wish we had him now', LOL. Hopefully he keeps improving and is a player.
I don't get it. I've seen him play. He's good. But he seems a little slow. And young... plays 2A ball. Not hard to dominate. My son has played against him numerous times over the years.
I always thought Damon Bailey was slow and an inconsistent shooter. I never understood that hype. He did alright.
I guess they have to project way out, with a kid this young. Some kids stop improving, others improve. Better to be in early. Nothing is set yet, no commitment. But looks like Coach understands modern recruiting. Painter seems to be on state kids early, he offered here.
I like his shooting form from my vast research of two minutes of highlights.
This BB staff is in overdrive displaying aggressive recruiting. I'm certainly not bitching.
This smells like the young man is tired of fielding Purdue calls begging him to come play for them for free and be apart of that stankfest on the Wabash.
In his Q&A, says he's grown up loving IU because of his Grandpa.
What year in school do these players typically transfer to one of these Basketball factory schools like IMG?
I don't know that he is being treaated as a phenom, but a very good player who wanted IU more that anything and there is value in that.
@hoosiers94 Kinda thought the same. Very solid, actually very good, overall player. But doesn't jump off the page as a no brainer, need to sign early, type of kid. Branham kind of had some similar vibes, and he's exploded since signing early. Hopefully CDD is good at early talent evaluation.
@courtsense He will be treated as a phenom now... hope he's ready to handle the scrutiny the next few years!

he's good, worthy of the interest... and hopefully he develops... highlight films can be deceiving. Watching him for entries games at a time I wouldn't have thought we would be on him so fast and so hard, but I do like the fact that DD is getting in on kids early and often. Not a bad thing. I think Coolman 2028 for example, is a better player at this point but potentially long term Micah is a better option
my son guarded him last year at a tourney... I don't think he had even 10 points, and my son isn't a D1 recruit at this time... D3 .. and on other occasions he has been a presence because the team he was on and his HS team there wasn't much talent around him so he stood out from that stand point.

Yeah, welcome to the IU machine
Curious to know if your son's best BB skill is defense? If so I have to be increasingly pleased with this commitment for more than just this staff having an aggressive posture for recruiting. Best of luck to your young Hoosier HS baller.
@hoosiers94 I would have Mohler graded well above Coolman. Both in current abilities and impact, and for the potential for future development.
@iunorth combining your thoughts on the kid, but since IU is his dream school, maybe he prefers the hype of being an IU recruit to being chased by lots of other colleges. Both are going to be a distraction, so maybe that allows him to tell colleges "I'm an IU commit" to fend them off. And, is there really any downside for either party? It's so early, taking his commit isn't going to really limit IUs hand or scare off other kids they are recruiting. Certainly the kid can reopen his recruitment, so I don't see it as a problem for either. I would think CDD feels like there is a good chance he will develop. I remember you and I discussing Luke Ertel after the AAU tournament here in Rock Hill, and I didn't think there was any chance he'd develop into a B10 contributor and likely starting PG as a freshman, let alone blow up like he did, so there's still a lot of time, and this kid could also grow a good bit.
