IU locked down their starting back court today in Mustaf and Burton.
Both these guys are attack the basket combo types, ball handling and scoring- Burton being a more true PG. But this is a talented back court. I'm kind of impressed with the potential here if they can lock down (several) more of the right pieces.
If you want a comparison, probably not quite as elite as Wilkerson, but both much better at scoring than Enright or Conerway. So this may work. Also, Mustaf is a rebounder and has size, while Burton has quickness.
The 3rd signed, Darren Harris from Duke is intriguing due to his overall rating as a #38 ranked high 4 star in 2024. Small forward, drives and is a bewildered shooter maybe looking for the right fit. Im not sure to expect a role shooter from him, but he may be able to fill in as well or better than Miles. So call him a top 7 player and see where it goes.
If Karvala and Moody are able to play in the rotation, and I think they will, then the only thing missing in the back court is a pure shooter. They should be able to find at least one from a smaller conference.
Sisley is a glue guy, and an everything guy, but he isn't going to be counted on to defend the 4 or 5 in the conference. So IU must secure at least 3 guys over 6'8" still, and at least 1 or 2 should be over 6'10".
Get some rebounding and a big center who can guard and block shots, and maybe it starts to come together.
Rumor has it Sherrell from Bama coming too….class is looking good, at least these guys played against good competition and from top leagues plus so all still have 2 yrs left? That way won’t have too depend on portal next yr
Yesterday was a very good day. It’s not mission accomplished but it fills the tool box. According to @tjinman1987 and his sources, IU could get big news again today so keep an eye out on Portal Kombat (probably need a tshirt for that).
Sherrell looks good. Surprised a bit with the seemingly 'elite' level type talk. He looks good to me, but not quite that.
Really would be great to get him. And then if we can fill in with lesser priced high energy bigger rebounders and defenders even from lower levels. Maybe just one more scoring forward to pay up for.

Got the 7’2 275 lb guy from SMU, Samet Uguoithgu (or something close to that) “The Turkish Tower” fairly decent from what I heard. IU also bringing 6’11 guy from Colorado for a visit, hopefully they can go to Sherrell and show him we got a big man, you can play the 4 for us! I’m assuming he wants to showcase his skills at the 4 because that’s where he thinks he’s gonna play in the NBA

@vanpastorman sounds like the 6'11" kid from Colorado has cancelled his visit. And Sherrell wants to play the 4 anyway, so having a couple of true centers wouldn't scare him away.
