I watched the first half and had seen enough. The team may be in the process of playing itself out of an NCAA bid. The talent level is not there to play consistent competitive basketball at a high level. The Hoosiers are a poor rebounding team and for what was supposedly to be a group of great 3 point shooters, they stand collectively at 34.8% for the season. I am troubled Sisley is virtually getting only a couple minutes playing time per game. If DeVries and company can in some way win 3 of the next 4 and get an NCAA bid kudos to them.

@gthomas Love the MIA on Sisley. I wonder what the story is for his lack of playing time. From being a high usage player for the first half of the season, he's basically disappeared. I don't buy the "hitting the freshman wall" theory some use.

@hoosiers94 Nobody is celebrating this.

if you're going to tell me , "we're in the right path or we"ll get em next year or we may still make the tourney but yeah we"ll lose handily in the first round " stuff then that's an endorsement of mediocrity.. so use the word endorsement instead of celebration then. My statement was not to indicate or accuse anyone of celebrating this loss or should I say ass kicking. But rather the continual struggle we seem to find ourselves in with regards to our current state which as been rather meek for several years

the more things change, the more they stay the same.

first off, I think we make the tournament.  3 of the next 4 at home.  Then a BT tournament game in a town that’s 75% IU fans.   We could be awful and win 3 more games.

but, jumping in my Time Machine and I say “who cares?”.

we made the play in game in MWs first year, and we were a 4 seed the next year.  What were people saying back then?   Even after his third year we had people on hear posting 5000 words of blah, blah pumping sunshine in a haze of supposed objectively.  Yes, I can remember it posted over and over:  don’t fire MW if we just blah blah one impactful wing blah blah we have $X for a blah blah etc.

or when we had Miller:   It’s clear we have hired a good coach (well, maybe he was and IU just killed his career).

frankly, I’m BORED with IU basketball.  I don’t need someone telling me that if I can’t see the clear improvements that I’m just not looking.  I was told the same thing in the past.  I don’t need to hear about what Hurley did his first year, what in the sake of blah does that have to do with IU?  I don’t need to be told that this is the best year we have had since we were a number one seed (what hogwash). Unfortunately, the only excitement or drama or anticipation that surrounds this program is speculation on the next regime change.  It’s Groundhog Day.  It’s the Time Machine stuck in a loop.  But, it’s just become boring…. To me at least.

@gerdis while I don’t agree with every single thing here. Boring is a good way to describe it. Especially when you look at the last decade.

I hope I’m not one of those sun shine pumpers who all talk about.

No , you're just doing your job... objectively

nothing is ever a good as it seems and nothing is ever as bad as it seems.

Boring is a good word.  Tiring is another one that comes to mind.

I thought a team full of shooters from the mid majors seemed like a reasonable strategy if we werent going to spend 30 million on a roster. But not with NO big. And not if they cant actually do it.

So, Im still not sure coach cant coach. But Im nervous about his eyes because of the vast, tremendous, harder working than anyone in the game, tape he supposedly watches. Should have been able to find a bit better squad.

We need a strong finish just to attract some players.

@openwheel it’s a HUGE offseason for him. I think he can coach, his system is solid. If he doesn’t get the right personnel this offseason the question has to be asked, if he ever will.
I also want to see a little more anger from him. Not saying he has to throw a chair, but a well timed tantrum would be nice.

@thehoosierhuddle

We took the third really bad foul call midway thru the first half, and he looked sadly at the ref, shaking his head from side to side, no... That will straighten them out!

As far as toward our guys, TV rarely airs the huddle. So I dont know how well he commands it, or not.

But Sisley shouldve been in for Dorn. Dorn was useless. I dont get it. Hopefully Sisley has mono. (Kidding!)

same here. He lacks intensity and emotion to me. I've been calling him doorknob. Maybe that's harsh.  But trying to get my point across. There was a time in the second half where the camera was on him , a rather close up.. about 3 minutes left I think.  He looked lost and confused as to how to handle the situation... down by 30 ... would've thought I'd had seen a raging anger and disappointment in his eyes.  That is not what I saw.  That concerns me.  And his ability to judge talent based on the game that the Big Ten and P4 is ... and one year at WV that seems successful for them doesn't do it for me.
