@thehoosierhuddle Making more free throws than the other team attempts is a great stat to help us win
It is, but IU this was as poor as IU has shot from the FT line all year at 70%
FIrst time ever IU has started a season with 90+ points in three-straight games (from the broadcast)
@thehoosierhuddle 2 pts from it being 100 three games in a row. Unreal.
Thanks for joining us tonight. Saw some familiar names and some new ones. IU is 3-0. Feels good. This team is really enjoyable to watch.
We'll have our live game thread for Football on Saturday as they take on Wisconsin at Noon.
Next basketball game is Sunday vs. Incarnate Word in the Tim Priller Classic at 5:30pm. We'll have the thread up about an hour from tip.
Defense and rebounding need to improve. But man, this team is so fun.
And I suspect this win will look good when Milwaukee wins the Horizon, then beats a high major 4 or 5 seed in the NCAAs.
- I simply do not know how to process IU basketball players making free throws.
- Ditto for 3-pointers.
- Double-ditto for single digit turnovers.
- Triple-ditto for the basketball not sticking in the possession of front court players.
- Conerway looks like Trae Young. He probably plays better defense than Trae. He needs to improve his vision, passing, shooting and handle to approach Trae’s offensive talent.
- Last year after the Tennessee exhibition I thought that Miles Rice would show the quality displayed by Tayton Conerway. So much for my ability to spot talent.
- Bailey looks like a taller, more athletic Dan Dakich, who can shoot.
- Sisley is going to be good: offense, defense, rebounding. This team needs tall defense and rebounding.
- After 3 games I think the Achilles Heel of this team is defense in the paint. Defending big players is a challenge and too many drives result in points.
- What’s with the buffalo? Did buffalo once roam the plains of Indiana?
- Does anybody remember the moniker “Hurryin’ Hoosiers”. The current edition embodies Branch McCracken’s view that fast play leads to good shots.
- Then again, Tom Crean had the same view.
@cavanagh You need to get your talent meter fixed. The Jovonovich guy was really good. Very solid defender and the biggest reason DeVries struggled to score this game. They said he was a Miami xfer and was on the team that whipped us in the tournament a few years ago. That big dude that came off the bench was a bruiser too and defended well. Like most good mid-majors, they are guard/perimeter oriented but they had a couple bigs that would play for us.
@thehoosierhuddle You brought back some Tim Priller memories. Tom Crean beat out Incarnate Word to sign Priller. I believe Priller's only offers were from IU and the mighty Cardinals of Incarnate Word. It's highly likely the Hoosiers might touch the 100 mark again when they play IW on Sunday.
@bigmike I remember exactly where I was and who I was with when Tim Priller committed and asking "What is Incarnate Word?"
