@iunorth what is it with you guys? Those are all long-past regimes and players. And again, if Crean decided to pursue and sign those guys, that's on him. What's the crime you see Drew Adams committing here: he possibly "talked up" players? You think that's not going on with every other player out there? I'm guessing it's as you said, you must know more stuff than what you're saying and don't want to share it, but nothing that's been listed ties to Drew Adams, who was what about 23-24 at the time? Hard to believe he was the mastermind in some scheme to get AHOPE or IE guys to the top of the recruiting rankings, that wasn't going on with almost every other guy, including Gabe Cupps, who's ranking and rep has never begun to be fulfilled on the court.

@kkott Tell everyone you have no clue about how many of these AAU organizations, and recruiting in general, work...without actually saying it...   That's what you're doing right now.

Those that do have some more intimate knowledge of it, and especially those that have first, second, third hand knowledge of the Adams hey day years and how they BOTH went about their business... they/we have concerns about Drew being a part of our program.

I've personally balanced those concerns with an acknowledgment that there are some smart, and well respected people at IU that think highly of him.  Mainly Mike Bargen, but then also Coach DeVries himself.

For me... can't just forget the stuff I know about Drew from his IE days.  But am very open to him having grown and adjusted, and hoping for him to be a valuable addition.  But wary about it.

@iunorth I'm not trying to hide it, I admitted it in my last reply. I'm just saying that knowing how competitive the world of big time college sports is, I doubt the Adams' were doing anything that most others aren't. Why? Because Drew wasn't blackballed and continued to get jobs and opportunities at New Mexico, Bradley and Cincy before CDD hired him back at IU. I don't know, and don't care to know, how AAU programs work and how coaches and advisors promote their players to college programs. What I do know is that the HC at New Mexico (two), Bradley, Cincy and IU again, know, and know all about DA. Heck, he played for SA, who decided to bring him on, and then promote him, and then his replacement kept him. I don't think 5 different HC's are going to risk their program and career on a guy, unless he can bring them incredible talent. If that was the case, he'd be at AR or somewhere similar right now. Between your thoughts and what  Cav has said, I do think it was a strange hire, but again, he's here and part of the IU program, so I'm going to give him a chance to prove himself and support him. I thought it was just fake for Cav to continually dog him, and then trumpet getting kids that it sounds like he was largely responsible for.

@kkott fair enough.  I think there's cause for concern, and cause for optimism.  We all know Cav is pretty absolute on many of his "takes".  I get, and share, the root of his concerns though.  I remember arguing with people regularly about Flory not following Drew anywhere in college.  He/they haven't often forged that level of relationship with their players.  There's not a lot of depth there.

But it does sound like Drew has made a positive impression on a handful of known good basketball coaches, in his assistant coaching roles.  Hope he ends up doing well for IU.

@wissler581 Oh yes in real life Nover was that tall. But I think his character of Ricky was announced by Chuck Crabb to be 6'11" Everybody got taller because of inflated heights which even in the movie were not true. One of the jokes was Neon played by Shaq said he was really 7'3".

While I regarded God as a tyrant I thought my sin a trifle; But when I knew Him to be my Father, then I mourned that I could ever have kicked against Him. When I thought God was hard, I found it easy to sin; but when I found God so kind, so good, so overflowing with compassion, I smote upon my breast to think that I could ever have rebelled against One who loved me so, and sought my good.” C. H. Spurgeon

Has anyone heard when Andrej is going to join the team?  I thought it was going to be by September?
