@kkott big deal to hire back someone that wa involved in a scandal. Drew was directly linked. Pretty simple. Lots of people don’t like this hire. Start asking people at big donor events about him, you will gets lots of opinions just like mine. Was a very dumb hire.
@iunorth 100% on Crean. 0% on MA and less on DA, if that's possible. And, IU as a program hasn't distanced itself from MA; we've gotten AL, TG and TS all from IE and recruited a ton more, correct? Heck, Perea at one point I believe was a 5* top 20 kid, lay out for me the scenario of how MA concocted that? DA may have been a jerk when Cav knew him, but he's been good enough to be praised at more than 1 stop and many thought he was a good and sensible hire. Besides, my biggest issue was Cav praising the signing of the Bosnian kid, and sounds like the only reason we got him is DA, and after all that he's said about DA, and not allowed that he might have learned lessons and matured, I think that's hypocritical and worth pointing out.
@cavanagh Fine, all I'm saying is don't jizz yourself over the signing of a kid that we likely don't get if not for DA, and then keep dogging him. Where was he directly linked? Not in that stuff you posted, that was all his Dad that I saw.
@kkott giving him a job at IU was in the deal for getting Hanner and Peter. AI didn’t say that, that’s what happened. Well known he got the job because of his dad getting us Hanner.
I have wanted foreign dudes forever, that’s why I nutted all over your screen 😘. Lots of foreign dudes suck tho, if Drew was the original contact, they are prob garbage :).
@cavanagh Again, I'm just reading what you posted, but the main issue cited was that Mark Adams was ruled a booster because he gave $185 to the AA over like a 7 year period? Oh yeah, and you say IU gave his son a job?
That's the scandal that's bothering you? C'mon man.
@kkott yes the 9 game suspension and is labeled as cheaters because of a shit basketball player and even worse talent/person evaluator. Adams and his dad are attached to the hip. Don’t just go by what I posted that was a simple answer on a question I asked. Do some research on it, the rest of IUs fanbase has not forgot lol
@cavanagh Again, the guy held accountable for taking those guys is Tom Crean. Adams was promoting his guys and wanted them in the biggest name school he could get. Caveat Emptor x 10 with recruiting. I'm not doing research on it, I'm supporting our coach, staff and team. You supposedly know the guy and what's transpired, and the best you could come up with was a shit charge from the NCAA for $185 of donations to the AA over like a 6 year period. Long past history, stupid conclusion, and it applies to his Dad, not Drew. My Dad was not a good person and I've tried like hell to live my life differently. And, if you can't give him a chance, then don't make posts celebrating the guys he's responsible for bringing to the program. Sounds like a couple great gets so late in the process and I'm looking forward to seeing them.
@kkott Hanner sounded way better, I mean night and day better. He drove drunk down kirkwood sidewalks at .24 BAC.
if we are going to bring back someone who cheated, I’d vote for Sampson, not Drew’s dumb fat lazy ass
@cavanagh But again, you've not shown a bit of evidence of Drew ever having cheated. But aside from that...
@kkott hey man if you don’t think Drew was linked to that cheating event in IUs history, I’m not gonna try to convince you. There are plenty that give a lot of money that do care. Just another thing if shit goes south early that will cause problems.
coach has no leash, this hire made it smaller for a lot of fans. Better win and quick!
@kkott You're very naive to how some of these AAU feeder relationships go. No one is arguing it wasn't on Crean, in the end. But you have no clue how influential and impactful guys like Mark and Drew Adams were...With shoe companies, with rankings services, and with college coaches. And the fact that Hanner Perea was a 4-5 star, and had multiple high major D1 offers, does more to prove how influential those guys were, than disprove it, in my opinion.
@cavanagh as with everything, winning cures all. Again, all I'm saying is don't trumpet the guys he's responsible for bringing in, if you're going to continually shred him as a hire. Be consistent. As for me, whether he was a good hire or not, I'm going to root for him because he's part of the IU team, and I don't see anything directly that links him to any wrongdoing. Tons of people have gotten their start by leveraging their families connections. That's hardly criminal or even unusual.
@iunorth You're right, I am naive about that, but my response is "big deal". It's how it is, you think every other player "earned" their rankings and Perea and co. were the only ones benefitting from having handlers tout them? It's how the systems work. I do know that Baylor wanted Perea badly enough to turn IU in for alleged violations, and he was a borderline 5 star kid, so whatever they did, worked, but wasn't criminal. The issue, according to what Cav linked, was that MA gave $185 to IU over the course of several years. Again, big deal, in the world of recruiting violations, that ranks far below even phone calls, and light years behind having faculty write papers and give passing grades to players, paying players, or arranging for hookers for recruits. And, for the last time, that's tied to Mark Adams, not Drew.
@kkott That's not even remotely all he did. Very, very few of the Adams...WWW on a much larger scale... very few of them ever got in trouble for much of anything. I'm not an investigative journalist, so I'm not gonna try to bring stuff out on one of our current coaches. But they did quite a lot of "stuff" that was either outright violation, or at a minimum was shady. Those things never really bothered me as much as how many kids they brought in, propped up, pushed up...that didn't really know the game well, and weren't very well adjusted kids. Perea is one of the more glaring examples, but there are many others. Like anyone with the power and influence they had though, there are also quite a lot of others that were successful. I just prefer guys like Brook Cupps, that does a lot better job of teaching the game, and life skills.
