Nothing revelatory here but I enjoyed this little glimpse of the coaches.

Another example of a coaching staff that "gets it". Early Crean years I'd say since we had that.
Yeah? No. Not a fan of made for SM moments overall, but if I'm going to see them at least have bball in them, or something related to the program. I know they are trying to rebuild a fan base, and I'm sure many/most will think I'm being an ahole, but a swing and a miss for me. I guess that's better than what we got out of Woody, but I think the bar's higher than that. You think if CDD struggles in a couple years SD's going to say "I should probably get rid of him, but I remember that cute video he made helping students move in...".
Trying to imagine RMK helping students move in, and that at least brings to mind some comedic relief. Now for the last time: Get off my lawn!
I think it's mostly unforced. Yes he's doing it for the program image, but going to work to contribute however he can doesn't seem foreign to Coach.
I like it. Good PR, especially after all the flack Coach took from leaving West Virginia and supposedly not talking to his team.
So far I've been happy with who he is and representing the university.
It’s just a harmless little marketing bit.
@openwheel Yeah, he seems very down to earth and a good guy. Unforced? You think the IU SM folks just happened to be wandering by when our coaching staff spontaneously decided to help kids move in? Not a big deal, but I'd rather see more open practices, or visiting kids in hospitals, or trying to make someone feel better like Aiden Fischer did by sending kids some IU gear and autographs. And, if he left WVU without saying anything to his team, he deserves a little flack. I'm just trying to share my honest reaction and I don't need made for SM moments like this. If he wants to promote positive vibes with the fanbase I think doing it through bball is the approach and I'd give him high marks for that with the PR trip, open practice, etc... I'd just prefer that sort of stuff to something canned like this.

They should be practicing free throws, amirite?
Go IU!
No, I said "unforced" meaning 'come on staff, we're going to help students move in today for PR, help encourage them to turn out' . And everybody took it as a fun part of the job, not an annoyance.
Just my feelz.
@kkott there’s only one move in day a year at IU. It’s a big day for the students and the school. Being a part of that, and doing something…is what the staff should do. Specifically what they can and should do? Lots of possible things, lots of room for opinions. There’s certainly nothing wrong with what they did. And having the awareness and gumption to do something and be a part of it, is a good sign. If they took your mentality, and thought doing something like what they did was unnecessary and maybe even beneath them…that wouldn’t be a good sign.
I do wonder why they don't have move-in spread over a few days. It's total chaos for the town to have everyone arrive on one day.
Agree 💯. No matter if it was PR idea or not, the fact of the matter is they helped some students and their parents move in. And that is a good thing. GoHoosiers
@iunorth I just think there's more that could be done. They don't have unlimited time for "community building", so rather than do something that touches a handful of students, how about splitting up into a few groups and take pizzas/donuts and have a quick Q&A or something? Maybe a drawing for a pair of seats behind the bench or something. That could impact a few hundred kids. I give CDD high marks for his accessibility and fan access to the program, this just seemed limited and a bit hokey to me. I'd love to see a coach Q&A session somewhere and invite students to come.
Also, when they announced the preseason games (Marion and Baylor) Zach Osterman said he thinks Hoosier Hysteria might be coming to an end? Doesn't really matter to me, but again, a chance to promote the program and team to students and the community and seems it would have been good this year with an all new staff and roster. Also, has been a recruiting tool bringing in recruits. Wonder if other programs are ending also? And, I don't think this is definitive, but Zach just said in years past, they'd have announced it by now and the Marion game is earlier, when HH would normally have been.
@openwheel Also just my feeling, but I'd say it was probably "forced" as you describe. I doubt any staff member's were chomping at the bit to help kids move in. Again, I think it's fine they did it, I just think they could have touched more students and probably not have to "force" staff to do quite as much.
I think more than anything, I'm not as excited about these promotional SM snippets until we start winning again!
CDD is going to do more than just this little move-in promotion.
He was recently at the new Homefield store talking with everyone who stopped by the store.
I wouldn't be surprised if he does something at the auditorium, Cignetti did.
The season is still months away and students just got to campus.
